Looks more to me like they're going for the mythical creature side of things, like a were wolf soul and a pheonix soul.

i find axl to be annoyingly cute, so you can count me in as the only other person to like him? 
For the record, it wasn't any kind of a rumor, just one of the Japanese Capcom Team guys stating he thinks it'd be an interesting idea.
Probably the same guy who brainstormed Axl in the first place. Like Inafune with Zero, he wants his creation to break away from the X series. :p

Axl is the new Sigma in X9? Look, whatever you're smoking, please share. There's been no hard details of an X9 even HAPPENING, Mega Man Network's mailbag was just a way for Capcom to see if the fans even want it.
