Gaming News site Eg has just put up a page which shows off the new game's logo, which you can see here. The title itself is "Rockman ZX Advent", which would seem a bit odd as there is no number in the title, which would break about every tradition of past games.
Taken from MMN.
Basically for the people who don't like to read: It's ZX2.
i enjoyed the first one, but hopefully they'll add even more armors and different things to do than just the regular side-scroller stuff.
No number means the slim chance it's not a sequel. I mean, this is Capcom we're talking about here. A port? A spin-off, perhaps? Those possibilities, at this point, are just as likely. At least until we get some official confirmation on what the game is, or some screens so we can confirm with our own eyes.
Not that a sequel wouldn't be welcome, mind.
Yeah, it doesnt sound like a sequel due to the lack of number in the title. Still this should be itneresting as information comes out about it. I wonder if it will be on Wii...
could be, but i'm hoping for a handheld release.
i'm sure it's just a sequel. i can't imagine that it would be a whole other game this early in the series' life.

Advent: ZX Without the Rockman?
By LBD_Nytetrayn on Feb 14, 2007 05:00 am in Miscellaneous NewsHel-lo, what's this?
We've heard for awhile now, with nothing more than a logo to guide us, that Capcom and Inticreates have begun work on a follow-up to Rockman ZX (Mega Man to us gaijin) known as Rockman ZX Advent.
And today, that changes as Go Nintendo has brought forth the gift of scans!
In a most curious move, it seems that the protagonists from the original, Vent and Aile, will not be returning for this bout, but will instead be replaced by Grey and Ashe, who assume the form of the mysterious "Rockman Model A," as they square off against the returning Pandora and Prometheus, respectively.
Unlike the almost too-similar pair of Aile and Vent, Grey and Ashe seem to have very different characters, with Grey taking the role of a youth who is awakened from a cryogenic sleep to be told he's a failed experiment (I'm sure that's just what anyone wants to hear first thing in the morning), while Ashe is a ruin hunter who... seeks out... lost technology. Why does that one sound familiar? Hmm.
Not a lot to say on gameplay so far, other than the fact that there are no signs of the fallen warrior Biometals from the first game.
Naturally, we'll bring you more here as it comes.
It would seem it is, in fact, a direct sequel but doesn't star the original protagonists.
Now, Rockman Model A? Surely they don't mean Axl...?
Seems Capcom sure likes to shake up old franchises with new protagonists of late. ZX Advent doesn't star Vent and Aile, Gyaktuen Saiban 4 doesn't star Phoenix Wright (although he does appear, just not in the way you'd expect)... what's next? A Street Fighter game NOT featuring anyone from an earlier Street Fighter game (which Street Fighter 3 almost was, until they caved in and slapped Ryu and Ken in there)?
i don't really know what to say, i'm not impressed at all anymore by this.
they should really try to fill in the gaps in the Original and X series before they try to go farther. let's face it, the series is dying. we should get SOME amount of closure you'd think.

I'm still wishing we'd get X9 to explain the semi-cliffhangery ending of X8... >_>
Thinking upon it further, if they're going to try to make a Megastleroid series, the least they could do is get it right. What was ZX, but a miserable pile of confusion thanks to the hexagonal map screen that failed to put all the connecting routes in some kind of logical order?
That right there, is my chief concern I want addressed. That... and if you're going to have 2 main characters in one game and you have to choose either one or the other, the least you could do is give each one their own unique objectives even if they have to share the same levels. And the occasional crossing of each others paths for @#%$ and giggles.
For an example of how this should work, see Sonic 3 and to a lesser extent, Sonic Rush. I would list something more representative of what I mean and much more recent, but none came to mind. The state of the industry. D:
vent and aile seemed like the same character almost, their personalities were hardly different and same goes with their storylines
I think that's because the intention was that both are alternate universe versions of each other. I don't know how they'll retcon that though.
EDIT: Official Trailer

More than one BioMetal, guys. And looking at the trailer seems only a few years have passed since Serpent's defeat (unlike some people guessing at LEAST a hundred). And now that we can see Model A's DNA copy powers in detail, there's no way in hell that's not Axl.
I hope the co-op system is more robust than Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin's, but in reality it'll probably be something akin to a Boss Rush mode.
They have those same videos and then some at Youtube. I've played the first and it was pretty good. It seems as if Vent/Aile are the same person. Just the fact that if they were born as either a boy or a girl. Those myserious double P's are back in this game too, huh? That makes their connections with this game more confusing. They clearly stated that they are only "the voice of Model W." I thought that they were now indespensable because Model W blew up/was defeated or whatnot. Is Model W going to come back or what? This makes things more confusing.
The Model W core was believed to have been destroyed. That was a very smoky explosion, and you know the rules of smoky explosions. There could also be millions of Model W fragments all over the world (seeing as it WAS from an exploding space station and all)
So i got the game, i really like it so far. it's nice to have a more established continutiy for it.
Model A is very fun to use for the most part, the lack of saber skills can be annoying at times though.
one change right off the bat is that Model A Copies whatever boss it defeats instead of you gaining a whole new bio metal. so it's a nice homage to axl.
I'll have more to say about it as I get further into the game. I'm just glad that the new map system won't get you hopelessly lost.
I've heard a lot of people complain about the voice acting (what's new?), but except for some oddly worded lines they're fairly passable.
Model A sounds like MML's Roll. I think I heard Barrel in there, too.
I like it so far... But I need my saber... Then again, I only got into the series with the Zero games

But I need my saber
keep playing
I know. I've beaten it on easy now.
I wish it wouldn't force change me back to model A. It's annoying to have to change back at every cut scene/ dialog place.
Chalk it up to Inti-crates being too lazy to add face profiles for all the different forms Mega Man Model A can copy and transform into.
i suppose they could use the excuse that model A Copies them EXACTLY. but i kinda agree with you that they are pretty much lazy.
Finished Grey's story. Not too bad, not too bad. I'll have to play Ashe's story and see what's different between the two.
The 8-bit unlockable mini-game Megaman Model a (for ancient) was made of NEStolgia and win.
