Surprise, surprise. Of all the Mega Man games in the orginal series, it was Mega Man 3 that did not have one whole weakness cycle. IMHO, this is the most ridiculous thing in a Mega Man series I've ever seen. It went like this:
The big cycle was Magnet Man, Hard Man, Top Man, Shadow Man, and Spark Man.
The little cycle was Snake Man, Gemini Man, and Needle Man.
No offense, but this is preposterous! A total outrage! Why couldn't Snake Man have fallen to the Spark Man weapon and Magnet Man the Needle Man weapon? I don't understand.
Yeah. But I'll take Magnetman over Clownman or Geminiman over Magicman any day! Along with Mega man 2, it was the best in the sries!!
Isn't that the only Mega Man title where the Robot Masters where fairly weak against their own weapons?
Quickman was weak to Quick Boomerang >> I think..
how are bosses weak to their OWN weapons?
by the way your sig kicks ass Bass.
(heh heh i rhymed.)
Hmm.. that is a good question.. Lets take into consideration one of the suckiest robots in the series..
BubbleMan: HAHAHAHAHAHA MegaMan, I have you now! "fires bubble lead and kills himself doing so"
MegaMan: ... O.o
Really unexplainable, eh? BTW, thanks for the comment on my sig. =)
More like in that "kill all the bosses all over again!" part of the final stages, where you already have the weapons to defeat them with.

Hey I don't make 'em, I just play 'em.
In MM3 you can beat each Robot Master with 7 shots of their own weapon. The only time that's possible is, as SH mentions, during the Wily stage where you're forced to fight them all again.
Handy if you've run out of weapon energy for the one weapon meant to take 'em down.
There IS one exception:
I recommend against using the Top Spin on Top Man, because, One: You only get yourself hurt sometimes when you use it, and two: The more powerful the Top Spin hit is, the more energy you use up on it.
And.. You know.. Top spin kinda beats the game.
