Clayton smiled and extended his hand. "It's nice to meet you Marque. My name is Clayton. I'm a pirate hunter in technicality. I take in the bad pirates, so they can't harm anyone."
Clayton looked at the others, "Make sure you bring something back for Spaz. I think after last nights brawl at the bar he may need something for hang over and eye." Clayton said with a smile.
Spaz bashed the door open and had an extremely annoyed look on his face. He growled and yelled at them. "SHUT UP! AH'M TRAHING TAH SLEEP!" With that he slammed the door shut and the rest of the crew could hear him grumble.
Clayton looked at Spaz as he slammed the door. "Looks like I'll the the sailing this vessel till he wakes up." he thought.
He lowered his head and chuckled to himself. He looked at the group, "Alright everyone, don't be to long. The ships ready to go." Clayton said. He looks at Marque.
"I think I can read Leon's mind and I wanted to say that we would be honored if you joined us." Clayton said.
"Anything to get away from those dogs." he immeditally said without any regrets. Besides the one known as Leon apparently had saved him and he would be glad to build and invent as a repayment for the cat.
He nodded and wrinkiled his nose.
"I accept your invitation."
Leon automatically grinned with widened eyes. "Co--" before he could say anything Alliandra spoke.
"Yeah, its cool we get it already."
"--ool." Leon finished, quieter then before after Alliandria interrupted him. He looked a bit disappointed by that, but then smiled broadly again.
"Alright, it's this way!" Leon shouted, pointing in the direction that he thought the restaurant would be, but since the cat had absolutely no sense of direction... he would in fact be going in the wrong direction yet again. He speeded off in an incredible pace, disappearing in the distance before Clayton would be able to hook him with his grapple like he could last time.
"Ah, geez." Clayton said, smacking his face slightly as the young cat had vanished. Just just go to the restaurant that you know and get breakfast. The captain will hopefully find his way back here soon. He sighed again, deliberating on if he should chase after Leon or not, but the cat had ran off at a good speed, and since he couldnt see him anymore, he wondered if he would be able to even find him.
If you say so. Kari said, smiling slightly under the captains foolishness, as well as thinking that it might be harder to live with the cat then she first bargained for. Kari and Ali then began to walk off with Marque following slightly behind them, towards a restaurant where they had been to earlier, with Marque feeling slightly more uncomfortable. He didnt doubt that these people were friendly and that he could trust them, but he felt a bit more comfortable with Leon after all, he had saved him. He wondered where he could have ran of to
Some time had passed, and so the group of three consisting of Marque, Karya and Alliandria had left the spot where they had met Marque and lost Leon, and Clayton had now rejoined in being on the deck, looking after it whilst waiting for the rest of the group to return, and Spaz well, the Bat was still trying to sleep. The Rotweiler which had been knocked out by Leon was slowly stirring as well, as another figure entered the scene.
Hey, are you alright? What the hell happened to you? The other Rotweiler that had joined him asked. This particular Rotweiler was one that had Marque had lost by throwing a hammer at him and knocking him out cold, and he had since reawakened and arrived at where his partner was, surprised to see the condition of him and his wounded head. Where did the slave go to?
Uh, I uh I dont know The other Rotweiler that Leon had landed on groggily said. I I was chasing after the hedgehog, and then suddenly, BANG!
BANG? The other asked, confused.
Yeah, BANG. I was knocked out cold by something that fell on me. The other Rotweiler tried to recollect, rubbing his head and feeling slightly better.
The first Rotweiler that had been hit by Marques hammer looked at the ground where the second Rotweiler had once been, and saw the line of impact which resembled his friends figure, and winced at just how painful it must have been. He then looked up and inspected the ship that was there. If anything came from above and knocked him out it must have come from that ship.
You dont think the hedgehog had friends? The Rotweiler which had been knocked out by Leon asked.
Dont be stupid, Eric. Who would want to be friends with him? We need to carry on and keep searching for him. A kid with those talents cant be allowed to escape, otherwise the boss will have our heads. The Rotweiler which was knocked out by Marques hammer said.
I feel really dizzy, Aaron. We should get backup and more help. The two of us cant search a whole port town by ourselves. Eric started to complain, continuing to rub his head which had been violently hit.
Are you kidding? We say that weve lost him already and were dead meat now. No, weve got to keep looking. Besides, I think some of the others are already searching around the town. No, we dont report our progress until later, understand? Aaron explained.
I I guess.
Now cmon, lets search this ship here, if you really did get knocked out by something from the air here. The rotweiler, Aaron, reemphasised his saber and pistol.
Eric slowly nodded, still wary, as the two made their ways to the ladder and began climbing it to reach the deck of The Addriane.
And in another part of the port town, far from the restaurant that Kari, Ali and Marque had left to go to for their breakfast, Leon had finally stopped, in the middle of a street surrounded by a market and passing villages and visitors, his head turning from left to right quickly as he tried to search for the restaurant he spotted last night on his way to the tavern.
Eh? Eh? Leon repeated, as he tilted his head to the side and tried to find it. Where did the restaurant and the others disappear to?
Kari reached the restaurant, whilst taking out some money conviently hidden behind her cape. The vixen was still thinking about Leon and if he would be ok, when she opened the door and entered the restaurant. Then, with a sudden thought, she turned to Ali and gave the other fox the money.
"Go 'head and get the crew some breakfast; you can bring it back to the ship, 'kay?" Karya said, on her way back out the door.
"Wait! Where are you goin'?"
"Ta get the cap'em...an' maybe make a detour on the way!"
He slammed open the door and covered his eyes with his arm. The sun was so bright. "Ah can't sleep." He looked around. "Where the Hell is everyone?" He asked Clayton.
Clayton was once again sitting a top the mast. He had the symbol of from the dog in his hand. He was just stareing at it. "It can't be him." Clayton thought. "If it is him that kid has or can do something he wants. He should be safe with us for awhile at least." he continued in his head.
"Damon, brother, what do you want with that boy?" he thought. After that thought went through his head, he heard someone coming aboard. He looked down to see if it was the others. But he saw the dog that was knocked out and most likely his partner. Clayton replaced the emblem in his belt and watched the two. Clayton knew they were probably searching for the boy and decided to start with this ship because the one dog was knocked out in front of it. Clayton realized that he would have to deal with these two quickly.
------
The two dogs searched the ship. They went below deck and started to search the rooms. When they came across Spaz's room, they saw that he was pasted out and left him alone. The rotweiler Eric turned to speak to his partner Aarom and he had disappeared. He then felt as if someone is was watching him. He pulled his pistol and quickly turned around. There was nothing. He now is very nervous and walked back down the hall looking for his partner.
"Where are you Aaron? he called out.
"Here." a voice said from behind him. He quickly turned around and everything went black.
OOC:
sorry about this double post
&
sorry supershadow, you posted second or two before I did. Now I I'm trying to figure what to do about my story
OOC:Nah, don't worry 'bout it. I can play off it. After all, they were knocked out, and we'll just say Iw oke p before they came to.
He walked over to Clayton ad sttod next to him, looking down at the two desperate doggies. "Hehe. Ah fancy they were sneakin' 'round the ship?" He had a thought cross his mind. "This guy's good. Ah mahght make him a member of mah crew."
Clayton looked at Spaz. "Yeah, now if you will pardon me I think I'll interigate these two now." he replied.
A few minutes later he came too and noticed that he and his partner was hanging upside down. When he looked to where the ground was he noticed they were hanging from the mast. He looked over and Clayton was holding the rope that keeps them from falling.
"We're going to play a game. I'm going to guess why you're here and you're going to tell me if I'm right." Clayton said. Both dogs now awake are freaking out now. "Now, I see you are wearing the emblem of Damon William. I also see from your attire that you are his trackers. What does he want here?"
Aaron tried to play it cool, " I don't know what you're talking about." Clayton shook his head, "Wrong answer." Clayton released the rope and they began to fall. The two screamed. Clayton grabbed the rope and pulled them back up. The two dogs are terrified. "We swear we don't know, we were just told to retrieve a young man. And that's all we know we swear." Eric said. Clayton squinted his eyes. He let them fall again and went with them. Using another rope he swung, caught them and landed on the deck. He quickly unties them and pulls them both to his face.
"Well now, you can see he's not here. Next time you want to search something you should probably ask first." Clayton said in the tone he used earlier with the bear. "I'm going to let you go and you are going to go to your boss and tell him that what ever he's up too Clayton is going to stop him." He drug them to the edge of the boat. Flung them over the side and before he let the go he said, "One more thing, you had better leave town now and find your boss, because if you don't and you try to come back aboard this ship I will not be a lenient as I am now." He then release the two and they fell into the water. The two swam to shore and ran as fast as they could towards the train station.
OOC: Okay, that made me slightly confused, but I think I understand it. Wayne, do you mind if you edit your first long post and remove the part that had all the stuff in your latest post? It makes it easier to read and understand.
IC:
Uh, uh what should we do, Aaron? asked Eric, wet and cold after having been thrown over the ship and into the sea by Clayton. They had gotten out of there quickly enough and were now back in the port town, walking along the street which would eventually lead them to the station, but not necessarily going into it.
We keep looking, Eric. Aaron replied. Im not sure who he is and I dont really care. All I know is that Im much more afraid of the Boss then some rope guy like him.
Ah oh yeah. Eric replied, and then paused. So what do we do now?
We keep looking for the kid. He has to be around here somewhere, and the boss wont tolerate failure. Aaron explained, and thus the two began to continue their search throughout the town for Marque the Hedgehog.
Oooh! Leon said aloud, as he sat down cross-legged in front of a particular market stall in a busy market street. The particular one he was in front of us was selling fruit and vegetables, and so Leon was naturally attracted to it. He had been sitting and staring at them all for a short while, drooling slightly, even. He then looked up, to the owner of the stall, a large and intimidating man but one who Leon was unfazed by, a man who was busy dealing with other customers.
Uh Leon grunted slightly as he reached out to pick up an orange in a stealthy manner so that the stall owner wouldnt be able to see him, but just before Leon could reach it, his hand was suddenly grabbed. Ah!
Leon cried out in surprise as he looked up, and saw his hand was held by the large muscular stall owner. What do you think youre doing? The stall owner asked.
Im hungry. I wanted something to eat. Leon replied.
And do you have any money to pay for it? The stall owner asked.
Uh money? Leon said, realising that he didnt have any and that his eyes were now shifting form side to side. Of course I have money, just, uh, let go of my hand and I can get my wallet out.
The stall owner hesitated, looking at him with a wary glance, but then released the tabby cats arm so that Leon could get his wallet.
Not that he had one.
In a swift and sudden movement, both of Leons hand reached out and grabbed a large number of the fruit and vegetable, and then he quickly turned, running off down the street.
Hey! You! Thief! Give me my fruit and veg back now! The stall owner shouted, jumping into the street and looking down after the quickly disappearing Leon. Marines! Help me! Get him!! The stall owner shouted.
Three Marines which had been situated along the market street in case of situations like this immediately responded, and one stopped to help the store owner, whilst the other two began to chase after Leon, who was both running and carrying a large number of food, eating it at the same time, and dropping small pieces along the way. Hey you thief! Halt right there! A marine squirrel shouted after him.
Mhm, ths ith sooo gdh! Leon spoke aloud with his mouth full, as other along the street could only look at him strangely and with the marines chasing him, and with Leon completely unaware of the marines.
Hey! I said STOP! The marine shouted again and this time Leon managed to hear him. Leon turned his head around to see the chasing marines and then his eyes widened in surprise and slight fear at having been chased by them. He turned his course down the street to down an alleyway, hoping to lose the marine through the strange alleyways and connections throughout the deeply built town.
The two marines followed the alleyway down to the end of the particular part and turned in the left hand corner, following the path created by the alleyway, but having lost Leon along the way. As they continued running down it they couldnt see him, believing him to be just past the next corner, but as for Leon himself he was no longer in the alleyway itself.
Phew! Tht wssh clst! Leon sighed to himself as he continued to eat more fruit upon one of the rooftops that created the alleyway. He had used his Pearl of Wisdom ability to jump high enough onto the roof building, with the two marine guards being unaware of it and still running down the alleyway itself.
Leon finished the last ten pieces of fruit and vegetables in one bite and then wiped his mouth clean of the juices from it. Mmm! That was a tasty breakfast. I wonder where the others are? Leon then began to search the rest of the port town from his rooftop position, searching the roofs for the restaurant the group had passed yesterday when they were at the tavern. Ah! Found it! He smiled broadly as he located it. It was quite far away, in a different direction to what he had gone into. He could see the ship as well, but that wasnt his target for now. Now, he wanted to join up with his partners and have some more tasty breakfast at the restaurant, despite what he had already eaten.
Okay then, lets go! Leon called out, and then he ran towards the edge of the building he was one, and just before he would have fallen off, he jumped high and across the distance of the street, landing on the next building, and leading to a few startled people down on the street below who saw him do the feat. He then continued to jump from building to building, getting closer and closer to the restaurant.
Damn. Hes not here, One of the Marine guards spoke, as the two had just come out of the alleyway and into another street, unable to see Leon anywhere.
Well have to keep going. We have to find that thief, before he does anything again! His partner replied, and then the two Marines guards began their search again.
OOC:
Sorry my last post was confusing. I'll edit
Karya had just finished up buying some food supplies at the market when she saw Leon and the trouble that ensued. Her eyes widened as she shouldered four full sacks and ran after the marines and her 'captain'.
Damn, wha' was he thinkin'?!?! Her mind raged.
With a huff the vixen slowed to a stop, realizing that they had gone too far, and that she, with her supplies, would not be able to go after them. Sighing, Kari turned around and made her way back toward the restaurant, hoping to catch Ali and Marque.
I can only hope that the kid can lose them marines... She thought with an amused look dancing in her eyes.
~~~~~~
"Where ya been?"
Karya looked up to see Ali and Marque walking toward her with four, wrapped up breakfast plates. The vixen wondered if Leon had managed to shirk off his pursuers, and sighed once again before replying to Ali's question.
"Loadin' up on supplies, mate." Kari shrugged her shoulders to show the sacks that hung there. "An' guess what? The cap'em was havin' a little fiasco with the marines."
Ali's eyes widened slightly. "Oh really? What this time?"
"Dunno, but they ran off before I could catch Leon."
Clayton walked over to where Spaz was on the deck. Spaz looks at Clayton with a confused look. Clayton looked at him, "In anticipation of your question, those two worked for a pirate known as Damon."
Spaz looked at him, "Wha they want?" Spaz asked.
"I don't know." Clayton replied. Clayton sat on the edge of the ship. He let out a sigh of frustration. Spaz sat down as well. "Who is this Damon?" was Spaz's next question.
"Remember back at the train station when I said there were shades of grey when it came to pirate? That there are good and bad ones. Well he is a very... very bad pirate." Clayton said. "He is evil, he kills for pleasure. It doesn't matter who. Men, women, children, it doesn't matter to him if they get in his way. He'll do anything to get what he wants. I have a feeling he's after the same Pearl of Wisdom that Leon is after. And if he gets it, our world perhaps all worlds, are doomed." he continued.
Spaz looked at him. "Well what, doz he want wit mah ship?" Spaz asks.
Clayton shook his head. "I don't know. But those trackers of his came looking on this ship for something. And it wasn't me." Clayton said. Spaz looked at him confused. "Why wud he be lookin for you?" Spaz asked. "Because he killed my father." Clayton said in a darker tone. Spaz eyes widened. Clayton looked at him, "And I swore to him, that I would kill him. Ever since then I've been hunting him. When ever I come across his lackys I foil what ever he's attempting to do, but he always disappears before I can get to him." Clayton continued. "He even sends lackys after me from time to time. But not often enough for me to care. And they are always weak. Like he's messing with me."
Spaz stood up and took a few steps forward. He turns to Clayton, "We had betta set sail as soon as the othas git here." Spaz said.
OOC: supershadow i hope I was able to play your character right. If I didn't I'll edit this post.
OOC: Man this is amazing. If you wanted to check this out then you can do its an audio version on the opening intro to The Pirate Age, brilliantly recorded and created by my good friend Elson Darkspeeds Wong. ^^ Some of you might have heard of him before for his works on the manga adaptation Sonic Adventure 2 Fan-comic plus various others on darkspeeds.deviantart.com/ and www.planetdreamcast.com/s...ndex.shtml
What do you guys think? It helps to further show how unique and different this RP is, eh?
Btw, for those who might not know this or who I havent told, Im planning on adapting this RP into a comic form although Im not planning anything. It depends if I can not be too lazy and be committed to do this, but already Ive begun the script for several pages of it. XD It will have noticeable differences to the RP such as how characters join and when they join and such, in order to translate an RP better into a comic form, but I was just wondering if I would be able to have permission to use everyones characters. I hope nobody minds but if you have any queries or desire for me not to then just say.
And everybody, keep it up! We're doing fantastic and I'm pleased with how diverse and interesting our cast of characters are and individual subplots are looking particularly awesome. ^^
And now back to the ICing. ^^
IC:
Leon jumped from the rooftop he had been standing on and landed upon the ground easily and comfortably without hardly any effort. He was still wiping away some of the juice that had stuck along his mouth but soon got rid of it all. His sudden appearance surprised the group and jumped themselves slightly.
Leon! Karya called.
Hi! he replied, smiling broadly, before his expression suddenly transformed to one not so pleased or impressed.
W-what? Marque asked.
Why didnt you follow me? Im supposed to be the captain and I didnt see any of you follow me and you had breakfast without me! Leon said, folding his arms, not amused.
OOC:
You have my permission to use my character in the comic book adaption. I do have a question. Will what happens in the RPG, be pretty much what happens in the comic?
Thanks for the permisson.
As for your question, I'm not sure as I'm not too far in writing the script for the pages, but I aim to make what happens in the RP happen in the comic in one form or another. It won't be a straight copy and there will be some differances in order for it to work better as a comic, but what happens in the RP will more or less be the same in the comic. It's just reworking it a bit to work better in a comic form, and in this regard the story will be slightly different. I hope that isn't a problem.
no problem. I do you need me to come up with a picture of my character or is the discription from the first page good enough?
OOC: If you'd be able to produce a picture all the better. If I'm drawing your characters I want you to be happy with the way they look.
OOC: Of course, you know you have my permission to use Karya, Ash.
IC:
Karya pointed to the four preserved breakfast trays, frowning, "Correction, cap'em, Ali and Marque ate, but they got Spaz, Clayton, you, and I some breakfast takeout."
The vixen jabbed a finger in Leon's direction. "I'll have you know that just because you're captain doesn't mean we, your crew, follow every single order you give. You went the wrong way, Leon. I was in the market when I saw you..." By now she was glaring at the cat. "....and that little party you were having with the marines. Were you trying to land yourself in trouble!?"
With a groan, Karya began to walk in the direction of the docks and the ship, not waiting for an answer. She wasn't necessarily angry with Leon (her tone of voice said as much), but she found it hard not to fight back when prodded.
He deserved it. And with a firm nod, Kari motioned for the others to follow. "C'mon y'all...we can eat with Spaz and Clayton when we get back, Cap'em. What with you pilfering the market stalls, you should be able to hold up for ten minutes."
Clayton and Spaz where on the deck. Clayton decided that music may lighten up the mood. "I'll be right back." Clayton said. Clayton goes below deck and walks into his quarters. He went into his bag and produced a fiddle. He walked back onto deck and sat back down. Clayton put the fiddle to his chin and started to play a tune called, Cliffs of Moher.
OOC: The tune Cliffs of Moher is a celtic tune. I didn't mention it in character, because I'm not sure what to title stuff like that. Would I use words like celtic, british etc in this RP?
OOC: Wayne, you could use any type of language or whatever that you would feel is appropiate to the RP at a time. However, british english words are appreciated a lot for their ease of understandability, but if it's a name or something like a song or person or whatever then they could be in a different language if neccessary.
IC: Leon looked at Karya, and then the food, and then back at Karya with a disappointing expression. His face had sagged and he was no longer smiling, to exaggerate and emphasise his upset.
Oh, cmon! Karya shouted, and then proceeded to lead the way back to the boat. Leons frown quickly righted itself back into a smile as he jogged to catch up with Karya and proudly lead the group back.
Okay, but I get first dips on what Im allowed to have! Leon called out, smiling to the vixen, who rolled her eyes.
Hey, wait, you there! came a sudden and unexpected voice which interrupted the fours walk and concentration on getting back to the ship. Along the street was a pair of two people, who shouted out despite the other people that were walking along. They were Rotwielers, and they werent pleased. Aaron, thats the hedgehog, isnt it? Eric asked to his partner, which attracted the groups attention even more and began to make Marque worried, who slowly walked back and behind Leon.
It is, and he isnt getting away this time! Aaron replied to his partner.
Hey, isnt one of them the person who was sleeping by our ship? Leon asked, oblivious to the severity of the situation or what had happened earlier.
Karya put herself between Marque and the rotweilers, her brow furrowing. Just who were these people? And why did they want Marque? She recognized one of them as the guy Leon had knocked out, and apparently, their friend was feeling aprehensive around them.
"Now now, just what do y'all want with our crewmate?" The vixen asked calmly, searching their faces.
"Your crewmate!?" Aaron's face contorted into anger. "Marque there belongs to our crew!"
Eric nodded, "Yeah, so that means he's coming with US!"
The two canines advanced a few steps, and stopped when they noticed Kari wasn't backing up in fear. Instead, she was staring at them, with a look that made them freeze. Then a smirk appeared on her face, and the vixen began to walk away. Hesitantly the others followed, still wary, as if they expected Aaron and Eric to suddenly snap out of their 'trance' and come after them with clubs.
Leon, meanwhile, had stopped to poke them, amazed that they had a sudden stiffness about their limbs. The cat ran up to Karya, grinning widely. "Guess ya really scared them stiff!"
"Yeah...sure. We better get movin'."
Within five minutes, under Kari's orders, they had made it to the docks and were approaching the ship. A sweet tune wafted down to meet the four crew members, and the vixen was curious as to who or what was making it.
Maque's eyes widened as the canines had found him once again, he bit his lip as he decided to pull something from his pocket - it was made of wood and he had only made it recently. He realized he had to use it, he gritted his teeth and looked to the ground. What did he design the launcher with for ammuntion again? He smacked himself mentally, he was never good thinking on his feet. He looked to the dirt surface and saw five well rounded rocks. Thats what he had to use - he had no choice. Quickily the inventor hedgehog rolled to the ground scooper them out and pushed the rocks into the loading chamber - pushed it in with a bolt.
But before anything else could occur the two dogs were frozen in place. Marque's eyes raised a eyebrow as he looked at the stiff canines.
"Woah." he spat before the group went for the ship.
But with seeing Leon and Karya the dogs would know where to look for Marque.
In five minutes they awoke from their so-called "trance" and one spoke immediateally. "They must o' went back to their ship!" he exclaimed.
The other nodded. "Right, lets get some more blokes, we have his quartinates and we won't get chewed out for wanting help."
The first dog nodded to his companion and they headed back to their ship. In momments they arrived and five other dog pirates blinked, one looked more important with the curved pirates sword he held and a long black ponytail.
"Drefney!" Aaron shouted.
The important dog snorted. "You better of find him, I don't want the cap'n chewing me out." he spat.
"We ALMOST got-" Eric began, but his sentence was stopepd by a firm "SMACK" noise. When the pirates looked on they saw Eric on the floor, bloody nose and above him - eyes narrowed, Drefney. His hilt of his blade was spouring blood; theroitacally from Eric.
"YOU LITTLE WELP!" he snarled, baring teeth.
With a quick snarl, Eric jumped to his feet. "We came for reinforcements!" he bared teeth as well.
Aaron nodded. "A group of wannabe pirates took him in. One of them, a female - has a abillity! A abillity where it froze us in place." he said frantically explaining his actions.
Drefney snorted. "I see. Only a pearl has such power." he smacked his hands together and grinned. "Perhaps this will work to our advantage."
Eric nodded. "I say we take 'em ALL prisnor!" he shouted.
Drefney nodded. "Agreed. You best be lucky I have the only pearl in the area that is more powerful then that."
"What does your pearl do?" asked a golden retriever behind him.
"Well, Murph' my pearl has the abillity to disable one or two persons sense for a full six minutes." he laughed.
"Excellent!" Aaron cried out in joy.
"Lets go get 'em, I remember where their ship is!" he led the way.
And with that the now ten dog priates charged for the ship.
As this occured Marque had been grasping Karya in a sudden unexpected hug of joy.
"Thank you, m'am, thank you, thank you. Thank you for saving me!" he shouted with a wide smile.
OOC:
I'm not tring to sound like an ass or something, but I think you should specify the sense that Drefney's pearl messes with. The way it's written now makes it sound like it knocks out all senses and in my opinion that makes him a God character. If someone got in a fight with him and he took out their senses altough for a short time makes him unbeatable. If a character looses all their senses means they can't function.
Now I know I'm not a moderator and you don't have to listen to me. But I think that you should explain his pearl a little more. I am sorry if you take offence by this and like I said, I'm not tring to sound rude or like an ass. I apologize if that's how I came off.
OOC: I think Wayne's concern is well noted, but here I don't see too much of a problem. Whether Mike changed it in an edit I'm not sure, but his character said that his Pearl manages to knock out one or two senses at a time for up to six minutes... a very interesting idea and ability. In this sense the character won't be able to knock out all of an opponent's senses so one of our characters would still be able to suceed, be it using another of their senses.
For example, sight and hearing are taken... a character still has touch and smell (I'm assuming we're not going to taste them to death ), and since the pirates have so many characters a chance of winning is more then likely.
Plus, the character is a villain. It's normally better for the villain to have a superior power and so when the good guys eventually win it feels much much better. Plus, I no doubt believe that the RPers (unless of course its Mike's specific character to use) would be able to RP him fairly enough so that it doesn't seem way too unbalanced.
But, I agree with Wayne in that when he uses the ability, as to which sense it knocks out would be much better and helpful.
IC:
The Adrianne
Leon jumped up using his incredible Pearl of Wisdom ability and arrived onto the ship first, landing on the deck cleanly and searching around for the interesting music. He quickly found Clayton and Spaz, and that Clayton was in fact playing a fiddle.
Wow! We have a musician as well! Leon shouted, jumping into the air slightly and then running towards Clayton. Cool! We also brought you two some breakfast as well.
And thats not the only thing weve been encountering and doing in the port town. Karya added as she climbed up the ladder to the ship as well. Our captain had a run in with the marines, and we met with those two Rotweilers again as well. As Karya arrived on the deck, she dusted herself off from where Marque had been hugging her, he seemed clingy too, like Leon. Typical kids.
The Marines? Clayton replied. How, and why?
I was hungry. Leon replied, grabbing onto his growling stomach again. I couldnt wait much longer.
So he stole it from a market stall after he lost his way from the rest of us and going in a completely different direction from the restaurant. Karya added again.
It doesnt matter anyway! Leon cheerfully exclaimed. It was fun and very tasty!
Hmm. Should we leave now? Clayton asked, feeling that the group might have spent a bit too long in the town now.
No, no! Leon disputed. First we finish breakfast!
OOC:
And just to mention, just in case someone is thinking that I am making my character a God character because of his actions against the rotweilers Barky and Bean. The character has trained in various forms of fighting including how to fight if his senses were messed with i.e. he lost sight and hearing, he could use his nose to find the character since he is a fox, and has great sense of smell. Stealth is part of the martial arts and he learned that. I tried to design his fighting abilities to compensate for not having a Pearl of Wisdom. Fighting against a character with a pearl puts him at a disatvantage and I wanted to try and level the playing field. He can still be hurt and he's still training so there are people who can beat him in a fight. Like the character I mentioned Damon, that's one character Clayton can't defeat yet.
IC:
Clayton had a little frown on his face. He looked at Leon, "I would feel better if we would set sail now. I have a bad feeling about staying here any longer." Clayton said.
"But I want to eat." Leon said. Clayton smiled, "We can eat while we get moving." Spaz got up and nodded. He across the deck and pulled in the anchor. He then rushed to the helm and started to guide the ship. Leon walked over to the Karya and took his meal. Using his Pearl of Wisdom he leaped to the top of the mast. With food in mouth he started to unfurl the sails. The sails dropped and they were on their way. Clayton went and tied the sail down to keep it steady. As they left the port, Clayton went and sat on one of the steps that lead to the helm. Ali walked up to him and handed him his breakfast.
"Here you go." she said with a smile. Clayton smile and took the meal they brought him. "Thank you." Clayton said. He looked behind her to Marque.
"Hey, Marque right.... why are trackers for the pirate Damon after you?" Clayton asked hoping to find out why his brother was after the kid.
Kari sat down, leaning against the wall of the ship, as she ate her breakfast. Of course she had used a Pearl of Wisdom, but as no one had asked, she hadn't bothered to tell anyone. She was sure the crew guessed Leon had one. With a shrug, she swallowed the last of the eggs on the plate, and went to place it in the kitchen/dining room. It wasn't a big room, but the dining table was just big enough for six or seven people; perfect for their crew. Sticking the plate in the sink to wash later, the vixen left the kitchen behind.
As she went back to retrieve the sacks from the market, she spotted Leon standing at the front of the ship, laughing as the wind whipped by. Karya shook her head, smiling a little at the young cat's antics.
Grabbing the sacks from where she left them, she saw Spaz walking up to her, pointing at the big bags.
"What ah' those for?" The bat asked.
"These? Oh, I jus' collected some things to hold us up until we reach the next port. Food and drinks." She smiled when he nodded, and went back into the kitchen to put them away.
Clayton finished the last of his meal. He smiled and looked at his fiddle. It being a beautiful day and being at sea had him inspired to play another tune. He tuned the fiddle a little. He then placed the fiddle to his chin once again. Clayton than began to play another Celtic tune called "Foxhunters".
As Clayton played Leon started to dance about the deck. Leon danced up to Ali, grabbed her arms and started to dance with her around the ship.
So, Captain, where ah we headed to, anyway? Karya asked Leon, after he broke the dance with Ali and instead began dancing with Karya which took her by surprise and didnt particularly thrill her.
They say that the first step to finding the Pearl of Order is from information, and that ancient ruins hold information about it! Leon said, surprising some of the crew members with the fact he actually said something intelligent.
Yeah? Do you know where any ancient ruins are? And do you know how to read them anyway? Clayton asked, stopping his playing of the fiddle to listen and pay closer attention to what Leon was saying.
Before I left, my friend told me the first place where we should go. He said it held information, but he never managed to investigate it before. He didnt have the time, and he wasnt particularly interested in the Pearl of Order anyway. Leon said, as Karya broke their dance, and sat down, holding her dizzied head.
Who wahs your friend? Spaz asked, interested as well as he folded his arms.
No one Im sure youd all know, Leon laughed. But maybe He paused, as if contemplating in thought, which interested the other crewmates who leaned forwards slightly in anticipation of what he would say next, of finding out who the person was. But what Leon said next was not related to the person who gave him the information. My friend said the island is called Flickies Island, named after a rare race of birds called Flickies as well. He said it was rumoured to be a mysterious island, and how, despite the fact that Flickies are only ever seen there theyre hardly there at all either.
What do you mean? Ali asked, confused. Theyre only ever seen there, but hardly there at all? Just what does that mean?
Flickies only inhabit Flickies Island, Leon explained. At least, I think so. They dont inhabit any other place or are seen anywhere else, but theyre hardly seen on Flickies Island either. The rumour goes that the Flickies are only ever seen once a year, and on that one time theyre at Flickies Island. The rest of the time, nobody knows.
Thats crazy. Spaz said, almost dismissing it.
Leon shrugged. Well, I dont know. Anyway, theyre considered a legendary rare species, and the island also happens to hold ancient ruins as well, which talk about a whole lot of different things. My friend told me that he heard there was some information about the Pearls of Wisdom there, and maybe more specifically the Pearl of Order. But few people would know what it means since they cant read the ancient writing.
And can you? Marque asked, suddenly intrigued and excited to see if Leon had such an ability.
Nope. But I dont think itll matter much Im sure there are some pictures or something which can help explain it or something Leon trailed off, as the rest of the crew rolled their eyes.
Anyway! We need to determine the positions of the crew! Leon shouted, jumping up from where he had been sitting, legs folded. Obviously, Im the Captain This made Spaz wince as Leon mentioned it. This was his ship, shouldnt he be the captain? He was able to protest but was unable to as Leon carried on. Marque can be our Carpenter, a repairman, right? You look like youve got the skills
Ah, right, yes Marque said, looking away slightly as he indeed remembered his skills and how it was the reason why he was kidnapped and used as a slave to Damons pirates.
Claytons strong, and he knows how to use a ship! Leon carried on, smiling. He can be our Helmsman!
Clayton looked at Leon slightly, and then nodded.
Karyas our Swordswoman! Leon said, bounding over and jumping around Karya, which just made her look at him in a peculiar way. For Spaz, this made him irritated even more. He had a sword himself and knew how to use it, and someone else was given that position?
Leon then jumped to Ali. You used to be a Captain, yourself, didnt you? Ali said nothing, instead staring at Leons eyes. The memories and of what happened were painful, she didnt want to be reminded of it just like that. She wanted to get away from it. Since youve had experiences of it before, you could be our Navigator, couldnt you?
Sniper. Ali curtly replied. Leon paused, and looked back at the vixen slightly confused. Im more fit for the position of a Sniper. Ill be that.
Leon took a moment to keep looking at Ali, before nodding, smiling, and jumping away. Okay! Okey dokie! Thats okay! Spaz can be our Navigator then, right? He used to be a Captain as well.
Ah Spaz tried to speak but was interrupted by Leon who continued to talk and then jumped onto the edge of the boat.
Rightio! Our crew is assembled! Even though wed still need some positions, like a cook and doctor, and Leon began to trail off, before speaking loudly again. But our destination is Flickies Island! Leon pointed out to the calm blue sea, which seemed peaceful. There could be seen some islands in all different directions in the distance. Karya folded her arms and looked at Leon with a tint of humour in her tone.
Do you even know where Flickies Island is, or the direction ta get there? she asked. Because ah little adventure at New Travest tells me you havent got the best sense of direction.
Leon turned and looked at Karya for a moment, almost blankly, before he laughed. Ha ha does anyone have a map?
I was fortunate enough to foresight this myself and have already got one. Ali spoke up, despite her usual quiet nature. Its not a world map and doesnt have everything there could be on it. Afterall, not even the entire world has been explored yet this is just a fairly local map, but it does have Flickies Island on it. She tossed the map towards Spaz, the navigator, who caught it cleanly and them removed the seal of it and unfolded it, taking a look at it and pulling a compass out to bear their direction. After a few seconds looking at the map and working the situation out, he looked back up to the rest of the crew and smiled slightly.
Ah dont believe it, but tha Capms right. Its straight ahead. Spaz admitted.
Ha ha ha! How lucky! Leon replied, laughing and smiling again as he turned around again and looked forward, as the Pirates were able to see their destination island loom ahead of them. Our first adventure begins! How exciting!
Flickie Island was just ahead. Clayton looked at the majestic isle. Then a thought accored. "Leon, do know what we're lookin for or where exactly on the island it is?"
Leon looked at Clayton, "Well of course I do." he replied with a smile. Leon let it at that, which worried the crew. Clayton looked towards the island, and his eyes widened a bit. He could have swore he just saw something flying around the island. He stood up and turned to Ali, "Hold this for a minute please." Clayton said handing his fiddle to her. She took a little confused. Clayton then tossed his grapple and roped the mast. He swung up and re-placed the rope and grapple in his belt. He then pulled out a small spyscope. He extended it and looked towards the island. He moves the spyscope down. He frowns and looks at the island. He once again sees something flying around the island. He puts the spyscope back to his eye. He sees something, but it's sillouetted. With that Clayton puts the scope away and re-joins everyone on the deck.
"Anything wrong?" Ali asked as she handed him back his fiddle. Clayton looked at her and smiled, "No everything's fine" he replied. Karya looked at Clayton with concern. She had a feeling that he was concerned about something.
Karya then shook off the feeling, knowing that if Clayton wanted to share his worries, he would. The vixen had learned from experience that being forced to talk about things that upset you was even more upsetting. Though it did feel slightly better in the end.
Shaking her head, Kari walked up to Leon, who was inspecting the anchor. She tapped him on the shoulder, sighing when he turned around with his usual trademark grin.
"What is Karya?" The captain asked, smiling.
"About the position of cook...I'll be honest: I can do a few simple meals, and if you'd like, I can be the temporary chef as well. Leastways until we find ourselves another ally..." She said slowly.
Maque turned and bit his lip, he didn't know of the name but he presumed that was the leader or capitan or someone important of the pirates comprised of dogs and wolves that were after him. He nodded as he spoke. "I don't know who that is, but the dog pirates... they were after me because I escaped."
"Escaped?" he rose a eyebrow.
"Yeah, I've been there prisinor for three years. They forced me to make handy inventions for them." he said. But before anyone could reply he added. "Like the Ship-Hook."
"The ship-hook?"
"Yeah its a giant steel harpoon that impales ships so they don't escape from their grasp." he gulped. He then spoke again. "And now that you have me, they'll be chasing you."
The dogs snarled on arrival of the dock to see the ship a bit in the distance, already sailing for somewhere. They cursed and Drefney snarled.
"Just this...this make my day! The boss will have me head!" he exclaimed.
One dog turned to him, "We can say he stowawayed on that ship, and they want to keep him from us to the boss. Wouldn't that work to get our inventor back and get some new prisinors?" he suggested.
Drefney raised a eyebrow then maliciously grinned. "Good idea. We will do just that."
Clayton's eyebrow raised. "So that kid must be an excellent inventor or Damon wouldn't want him so badly." Clayton thought. He looked at Marque. "How did you come in contact with Damon?" Clayton asked. Marque looked at him puzzled, "How did he know the name of the pirate?" he thought to himself.
Clayton removed the ensigna of Damon from his belt. " I took this from one of the two trackers that were chasing you." Clayton said in reply to Marque's look.
Ali looked at him, "Who's Damon?" she asked.
Clayton proceeded to explain who Damon was, as he did for Spaz. After he was done, the others looked at him in shock. Except for Leon. Leon placed his hands behind his head. "So, he's tough. We'll have no trouble against him." Leon said.
Clayton's head darted towards him, "Do not take Damon lightly. If he is given the chance he will kill if you are in the way of what he wants." Clayton said seriously, but not so serious to be mistaken for being harsh. "He also has a group of powerful mercenarys that go by the name the Pyschotic Six. Now the dudes at the dock were just henchmen. And if those henchmen didn't heed my warning and are planning on chasing us now, then we should show them what happens to people who don't listen." Clayton continued.
Leon looked at Clayton and then towards the direction back towards New Travest. He ran and jumped his way to the end of the ship and looked outwards, barely able to see anything, but after a while, simply shrugged as he walked back to join the group again.
"It doesn't matter. We'll beat whoever comes after us!" Leon declared. "What matters is our own goals." Leon said, smiling slightly, before looking a bit confused as he sat back down again. The group's individual aims... what were they? He couldn't believe they just wanted to help Leon find the Pearl of Order. They must have had their own desires, and Leon thought it would be best to know of them so he would be able to help them acheive it.
"What are all of your goals?" Leon asked, again resuming the somewhat surprisingly serious mentality. "It would help if we knew what each other wanted, right?" Leon said, before stopping and turning to Karya again. "Karya! Thank you for offering to be a chef until we get a proper one. I bet your cooking will be really yummy!"
OOC:
Pachamac Clayton hasn't revealed that Damon is his brother yet. I was hoping to save that for the groups first encounter with him. They meet his and Damon would say, "Well, it has been a long time..... brother." I apologize if I wasn't clear about that a few pages ago, when Clayton had a flash back to his childhood or when I said he explain the situation to them
OOC: Nah, it's okay, I'll just edit it. MY brain's not working very well since it's pretty late. I'll just edit it.
OOC: What time is it where you are? I mean it's only like 6:00 pm wherer i am
Alliandra nodded to Leon. "Well theres a bunch of things that I could do in the thought of goals. Like find the crew that left my ship and abandoend me in New Taverst." she said. "Then there is the benifet of finding a pearl." she smirked.
"But eh, wahtever happens - happens." she said.
Marque nodded. "I..I just want to stay away from those pirates." he said.
(OOC: It's midnight for him, he lives in the UK)
OOC:
Ah the UK. Beautiful country, I hope to go back one day
Karya just nodded to Leon, before addressing the group. The vixen decided she probably should tell them what her real occupation was, in case they ran into trouble later on. She knew some of her clients' enemies would do just about everything to see she was out of commission...
"Awright, jus' wanted to get somethin' straight with all you: I'm a mercenary. I work for money and I've been to quite a few different towns for that purpose," Kari spoke, taking in their reactions. Leon was just staring, wide-eyed, while Spaz looked a little wary, and Clayton's look was unreadable.
She continued, "I never really had any goals, except maybe finding my brother. But I've long since given up that possibility." A solemn look crossed her face, but only for a second. "Now I must give y'all fair warning...I'm a wanted woman with some of the baddies I've faced off against, 'specially a certain assassin that's been tailin' me."
"Mercenary eh?" Clayton thought to himself. "I wonder..." he continued to think. He looked at Karya. "Well, have you ever had run in's with Damon or worked for him?" Clayton asked. He asked her, because he started to think back to the times he's foiled Damon's plans. If she worked for Damon, he may have had to fight her. And if she had run into Damon before she would be able to back up what he had been saying about him.
Karya froze, before turning to look at Clayton with a serious stare. "I've heard of the guy...and did have a short confrontation with 'im. Although, I never did find out it was him until an old colleague of mine told me. Quite a dangerous fellow, he was. Nearly got my arm severed."
And with that, she showed the bat-eared fox a large scar running down her left arm. "S'why I wear long gloves nowadays."
Clayton looked walked over, gently took her arm and examined the scar. He looked up at her. "You were lucky. You're correct he is quite dangerous. He something about when he killed my father, they were real close. And Damon betrayed him and murdered him in front of my mother." Clayton said. He released her arm and allowed her to re-glove it.
Kari stared at Clayton momentarily, with sympathy in her eyes. With a sigh, she pulled her glove back on, placing a hand on Clayton's shoulder for a quick pat.
"M'father and mother were killed by some of his colleagues, I'd bet. They burned down our house...which is why I lost my lil' brother in the process." Her tone was hard, yet the slightest trace of sadness could be heard.
"How do you know?" Clayton asked, curious, yet angry at Damon.
"He said something along the lines of my father bein' a nuisance and all," She said with a shrug.
OOC: Wayne, where abouts did you visit/live in the UK?
Leon simply stared wide eyed as he witnessed the rest of the conversation between Karya and Clayton, although truthfully his attention span had waned and turned to something else. Instead he looked back towards the ocean, and the suddenly really close island of Flickies Island. Their discussion had been a good way of passing the time, and Leon's wide eye look now turned to an even wider glimmer, with his mouth opening wide as well. The rest of his group had explained what their own motives were for, all of them apart from Spaz, who had remained unusually quiet. But Leon's mind was unfocused on him, and instead the island close to them.
Before anyone could notice what Leon was doing, he was already fulfilling it. Instead of waiting and helping finish up the preparations of stopping the ship, setting up anchor etc and waiting until they were closer, Leon had already done a run up, and jumped off the edge of the ship, towards the island. His jump carried him off high into the air and towards the island, where he dissapeared from the rest of the utterly baffled crew and into a thick forest on one section of the island.
Clayton smacked his face with his hand, completely covering his eyes as it slowly drooped from it, muttering to himself which could still be heard from all of the other silent crew members who just stared off at the lace where Leon had vanished to. "Oh, brother..." Clayton spoke aloud.
"Wah, wah, woohoo!" Leon shouted out at the top of his lungs as he fell through the canopy of the forest and was now scrapping off some pieces of stick and leaves which hit his body and cracked off the trees, before he landed on his head upon the grassy ground, bouncing up slightly before staying on the ground, stunned and completely still.
Then, a second later, he suddenly got up and started walking about, as if nothing had affected him.
"Well, that was a successful mission. But I've lost the others... hmm. Maybe it wasn't such a good idea." Leon muttered to himself, looking all around him and simply seeing trees around him... nothing but trees. "Aww. I know!" he shouted and then looked straight up at a gap in the clearing, and then, bending down and readying his feet...
...he jumped into the air, through the clearing, as he took the momentary time to look around him and see the island proper. He saw the ship in the distance, coming in close to the island, and then he took a moment to check the rest of the island. Below him was a forest, but compared to the rest of the island it didn't take up much space. There was a lot of hills, and a couple of mountains on the other side of the island. A lot of the land was mainly plains, but strangely enough where there wasn't grass there was a checkered paterned ground, of red and yellow grasses. The plains however had different relief levels... there wasn't slopes, just simply a straight cliff face and drop to the next, lower level. The gap in heights weren't very big though, so if someone fell they might be hurt, but it wouldn't be life threatening.
Within the island there was also other things, a couple of waterfalls which led to rivers which rejoined the sea, and yet strangely there were no fishes of any sizes within them. Leon's gaze fell upon a large lake in the centre of the island, which had a strange rock formation in the centre of it and rocks leading towards it... as if it was an intended path. But that shouldn't be possible, the island wasn't inhabited, apart from the Flickies, but they only visited once a year. It was doubtful this was the time... but even if it was it wouldn't make much difference. Birds couldn't build something like that.
Another wide grin bore its way across Leon's mouth. That seemed like the target, and as he landed back in the forest, he worked his way by running in the direction he remembered the lake to be in... but again, Leon's sense of direction wasn't nothing. He was instead going in a completely different direction, towards where a waterfall would be instead, and beyond that the mountains.
OOC:
I lived in Lakenheath. I believe it's south of Cambridge.
IC:
Clayton felt bad for Karya. He knew how she felt to lose a loved one the bastard. Clayton looked in the direction that Leon had jumped. He pulled out his spyscope and looked towards the island. He saw where Leon landed and it looked like it was a rough one. A few minutes later he saw Leon leaping straight into the air and spinning around.
"He must be getting his bareings." Clayton thought. He turned back to Karya. He gently placed his had on her shoulder. "So, have you ever thought of going after Damon, and avenging your family?" he asked her.
Kari snorted, "Lots 'o times mate. Lots 'o times. But by then I'd been deemed quite a mischievious lil' git; a mercenary who did a good job."
Staring off into the distance at Flickie Island, the vixen sighed, an agitated yet amused look crossing her features. She crossed the ship's floor over to the railing, and before anyone could stop her, she yelled, "I'll find the cap'm!" And with that, Karya vaulted herself over the side of the ship.
One would've expected her to dive into the water, and swim toward the beaches. But instead, Kari held out her hands, and the water beneath her feet held fast as if frozen. With a satisfied smile, the mercenary was off and running, right over the frozen surface of the ocean, and toward Leon.
Five minutes later, the areas she had run on began to slosh and sway again, no longer a solid surface. The crew, bewildered as it was, just stared.
Clayton watched the water un-freeze. He then pulled out the book opened it up and jotted down some notes. "Karya: Pearl of Wisdom power, freeze. Leon: Pearl of Wisdom power, high jump." he thought as he wrote. "The powers these pearls give people are amazing." he continued to think.
The ship finally landed at the island. Clayton and Spaz lowered the sails, and dropped anchor. The three on the ship jumped over the ships edge and landed on the ground. Clayton knelt down and found Karya's footprints. "Looks like she ran that way." he said pointing northeast.
"She went afta Leon, but wha's he lookin fer?" Spaz asked. Clayton stood up and shook his head. "I don't know. But knowing the kid what ever he saw when he leaped up and scouted the area, he's going in the wrong direction." Clayton said jovially. Ali looked at the two. "So what exactly are we looking for?" she asked. Spaz and Clayton raised their shoulders to indicate they didn't know.
"Shall we?" Clayton asked motioning in the direction that the footprints lead. Ali and Spaz nodded and they rushed off after Karya and Leon.
