By the end of the 22nd century Earth was thriving. Humans had taken to the stars and made contact with countless alien races. Earth was in a prime location in the galaxy, placed almost squarely on many of the most buisy interstellar trade routes, and this fact was quickly exploited. The Humans began to offer goods transports themselves, an offer readily accepted by the various races involved. Starting with a few small ships on a few routes, the Human trading company steadily began to grow, taking on more and more jobs.
The Terran Trade Association was born! With all the revenue, Earth soon became one of the richest planets in the galaxy, and the TTA became the biggest transport service in the known universe, offering passenger and freight lines to all the major worlds!
It was not without it's setbacks. The spacelanes were often attacked by Human terrorists, claiming that aliens were a disease and Humans should have nothing to do with them. Then there were the alien pirates, jelous of the Human's success and determined to put them out of buisness. But despite all the problems, the TTA continued to grow and become the galaxy's principle transport service, used by millions of races every solar year!
2196: Present Day.
"Space Transport 81 to Starbase 575, all systems check, we're ready to go." the captain called into the radio.
Route 81 was one of the longest routes the TTA had, incorperating all the planets along the outer rim of the galaxy. This, coupled with the remoteness, meant that it was one of the few routes that regularly catered for more aliens than humans each trip. At virtually every stop an assortment of passangers of all shapes and sizes would be waiting, and the Human crew of the vessel found they were never bored.
"Roger Transport 81 you are clear to depart." The captain nodded to his co-pilot and started to operate the controls. Slowly the massive transport began to pull away from the orbiting starbase. As soon as it was safe to do so, the Captain activated the Hyperspace drive and the ship shimmered into warp.
Route 81's remoteness also ment that it was a long way to the next stop, and there were several points where the ship had to jump out of Hyperspace temporarely because of black holes and the like. One of these spots was in the as yet uncharted Sharada system, right on the very rim of the Milky Way.
"Approaching Sharada Sir." commented the co-pilot as he monitered the star charts.
"Okay." replied the captain. "Throttle back. Take us into normal space." Then he flicked a switch on the control pannel infront of him. "All passangers, this is the captain." he spoke into his microphone. "We are dropping out of Hyperspace while we pass through the Sharada System. Please prepare for slight turbulence from the local singularity."
The ship shimmered back into normal space and entered the system, the intense light from the Sharada sun reflecting off it's hull.
"Sir, I'm getting a red light on communications." remarked the co-pilot, puzzled. The captain switched the radio back to interstellar com.
"Space Transport 81 to Starbase 575, do you read?" Static answered his call. "Starbase 575 do you copy?" Again, nothing.
Suddenly there was a jolt and warning sirens started to screech through the ship. "The Hyperspace drive just overloaded!" exclaimed the co-pilot in shock. "The explosion knocked out impulse engines too! We're down to thrusters only!"
"Cause?" exclaimed the captain.
"Unknown!"
The captain thought quickly. Without engines, the ship would get caught by the black hole's gravity and sucked in. The thrusters could stop that happening, but their fuel wouldn't last forever. Then he had a brainwave.
"Are there any inhabitable planets in this system?"
"One, the second from the sun. It's a bit of a desert world, but it's capable of supporting life."
"Take us into orbit!" barked the captain. Then he went over his plan as the ship approached the world. "The planet's gravity should hold us out of the black hole while we make repairs, and if we start to run low on supplies we can shuttle down to the planet and find food there. Also when we don't arrive at our next port, the TTA should send some ships after us."
The co-pilot nodded as he brought the ship into orbit. "I just want to know what in space caused that explosion!" muttered the captain to himself.
No sooner had he spoken than another explosion shook the ship, setting off more alert sirens.
The co-pilot looked worried. "Sir that was the reactor core! Most of our systems are out, and the explosion de-stablised our orbit! We're dropping into the atmosphere!"
The captain looked round, shocked. "This ship is too big to enter the atmosphere! We won't be able to get out again!"
"I know sir!" replied the co-pilot, a note of panic in his voice. "I've got thrusters on full power but we can't pull out! We're going down!"
The captain looked out of the front windows in horror, watching the planet slowly growing larger and larger.
"Try to at least level our decent!" he told the co-pilot. "We have to try and get down in one piece!" Then he flicked on the intercom again, "All passengers, this is the captain. We're being forced to make a crash landing on Sharada two! Please strap yourself down and secure any loose belongings!"
"And pray." muttered the co-pilot under his breath.
The captain switched back to the radio, still recieving nothing but static. "Maday maday! This is TTA Transport 81 to anyone in the area! We have lost control and are about to crash land on Sharada two! Repeat: Planetfall on Sharada two! Requesting any and all asistance!"
Still the static was the only reply...
"Can anyone hear me??? This is TTA Transport 81..."
The massive ship plunged into the atmosphere, flames bursting into white hot fury around the hull. With a thundering roar it tore across the sky, a trail of flames spewing out behind it. The metal on the front end began to melt with the intense heat.
The ship was coming down on the day side of the planet, but even with the bright sun overhead, the massive fireball was clearly visable against the bright blue sky. The ship thundered down, getting closer and closer to the barren, rocky surface of the planet...
IMPACT! With an ear-splitting crash the massive transport crashed down, compacting the lower decks (and everyone in them) into a crushed mass of metal and remains. With the incredible speed of the man-made comet, it began to slide along the rocky surface, leaving a massive gorge in it's wake. Everything in it's way, rocks, trees, shrubs, all were either torn up or crushed as the huge metal ship grinded along. The ship's hull, built to be very strong and sturdy, began to tear apart at the immense stress.
A large rock, almost seven storeys high and nearly a mile across, appeared on the horizon, right in the path of the ship. The transport roared closer and closer, it's momentum barely dulled by the small rocks and foliage it was tearing up...
Another ear-splitting crash, as the ship ploughed into the massive rock. The front end of the ship, still white hot and partly melted from plunging through the atmosphere, simply folded at the impact, crushing the command deck. The rock shook at the massive blow, cracking in multiple places.
And then, suddenly, all was still.
Transport 81 had finally come to rest.
Planetfall!
This RP needs six (6) players besides me, all survivors of the crash. I will be acting as moderator, and will also be playing a character myself. The objective is simple: to survive, and somehow find a way off the planet. But of course, it's not quite as simple as it looks. What dangers are there on the uncharted Sharada two? And will the survivors, all from different races and backgrounds, be able to work together to overcome them?
Rule number one for character creation: be imaginitive. The more varied and unique the characters, the more interesting the interaction will be! No powerplaying please, but you can make your character pretty much anything you like. Lots of different races use the TTA. (Human is also an option if you wish, either one of the crew or a passenger.)
Try to keep any special abillities baised in science theorey if possible. No crazy magic attacks, unless you can at least to some degree explain it in real terms. (This isn't to say no special powers at all. Just try to keep them reallistic-ish.)
Feel free to implement minor plot points and changes yourself: this RP is very open. If you have any ideas about larger plot points, though, just EZmessage me to suggest them. If they're good, we'll include them!
NOTE: While I'll be both Moderator and a character in the RP, the two roles will not be connected. Example: If my character suggests a way out of a situation, this doesn't mean that that is the way everyone has to go. If I do have particular ideas I'll post them OOC.
I'll post my character's introduction when a few others have joined. To start off, simply tell us your character's:
Name
Age
Sex (if it applies to your race o.O)
Race
Description
Abillities/Equips
Short history of your character
Notes (any extra points not covered in the categories above.)
Then start up your RP as you escape from the wrecked transport! (Note: the transport is about a mile long, and 40 decks tall, although the bottom 7 or so decks have been compacted into each other on landing. The front of the ship is still white hot from the atmosphere, and the rear compartments are on fire from the explosions.)
Edit = renamed the RP
Ruby looked over the others, noticing that Kaiko had fallen silent upon her implied query. Nodding her head in understanding, the Grotesnia turned back toward the ship, a ragged sigh escaping her. It wasn't like she wanted to go...but if she didn't, who would? They needed some blankets, food, and definitely water....which she doubted could be found in the dry, arid desert.
At least, She thought, They'll keep each other company.
Taking a running start, Ruby crouched down, then used her powerful legs to propel herself up and over the side of the ship. Landing on the scorched, smashed-up deck, the Grotesnia wandered around until she spotted a partially uprooted stairway. She carefully tapped it with her tail, making sure it was safe enough to tread. Once she was sure it would not collapse under her weight, she began her descent into the carnage-filled ship.
Since the all but a few lights had been blown out or torn from their sockets, it was indeed very dark. Only the light from the slowly setting sun pouring in through broken windows and such prevented the place from falling into total darkness. It was still warm, Ruby confirmed. A few flames flickered in and out of existence, soon to be quenched by freezing temperatures. Grabbing a broken table leg, Ruby used a dying flame as a torch, guiding her through the darker parts of the ship.
"Mmm...how I despise dark, creepy places of doom......" The vixen-Grotesnia said aloud.
"Really makes you wonder...." She clicked her tongue, shivering a little as it echoed down the metal corridors.
In times like these, talking out loud always calmed her when she was afraid.
Kaiko started at Ruby's sudden question, then watched her start off before he could reply.
"Wait!" he cried! "I-I'll...go with you..." He trailed off soflty, then turned to the others.
"I-I guess we could start making camp..." he murmurred uneasliy, noticing that no one seemed to be willing to make the first move.
It didn't take long for the other three to reach the cave. Inside, out of the wind, it was a few degrees warmer, and they all breathed sighs of relief.
Raiana watched as the other two settled themselves down to wait for Ruby. She was once again petrified that she may become the subject of conversation, forcing her to recall her parents and what had happened to them. She thought quickly, deciding that the best way to avoid it would be to start off on another subject right away.
"Um..." she faltered, "...so, who are you both?" Lame, she thought, but if it got them talking about themselves it would do...
(OOC: It posted! Ok we're back in buisness^^ Didn't want to edit this in in case of wiping the whole RP, so sorry for the double post ><)
