OoC: Okay, here's the deal. Robotnik has been disposed of. Yay! And Robotropolis is now home to lots of mobians again. Thusly it's Mobotropolis. Yay! And there's an earthquake.
No specific rules. No power-playing, of course. First you have to survive the earthquake and aftershocks... then you have to pay attention because somebody's gonna be taking advantage of Mobotropolis' ongoing chaos.
This RP starts in and close to Mobotropolis. Not Knothole.

Breech grinned as she climbed up a lift shaft. This little job was imperative for her big heist next week. A pair of night-vision goggles. If there was any light anywhere, it would make it as good as sunlight.
Crawling out of an air vent, she snatched up the goggles while everyone's back was turned
The building began to shake. And the lift cable snapped. There was a resounding crash about 80 feet down.
What the hell kinda security system is this?! she screamed mentally. She tried to catch hold of something, anything.
She grabbed the snapped lift cable, which snapped again, somewhere further up, and she fell again. This time she managed to grab onto a wall with her claws.
The shaking of the building stopped, mercifully, and Breech looked down. Nobody who had been in that lift could have survived. The smell of blood was horrible in here.
She swung over to the door and pried it apart with her claws. The building wasn't in any better shape than the lift shaft. Several people were trying to stand.
"What the hell is going on here?" someone asked.
"Somebody's blown up the building!" someone else wailed.
Somebody else was pressing a lift button frantically.
"Don't bother, the lifts are out of order," Breech told him, and kicked her way over to a window. She took the goggles from her belt and looked out, "Oh, damn..."
"What? What is it?" asked the guy.
"It wasn't a bomb," Breech answered, "It was an earthquake. A bad one."
"How bad?"
"This sixteen storey building is now an eight storey building," Breech replied, "And we're hellish lucky it's standing at all."
OOC: Bleh, what the heck, Ill give one of Harleys RPs a try. Im sure Ill regret the kind of content later, but what the heck. The idea is certainly interesting.
IC:
It came unexpected, out of nowhere. It was a normal day at first until suddenly, the whole city rumbled and fell victim to a travesty. The newly reclaimed city of Mobotropolis found that even with the defeat of Robotnik, there would still be more natural problems, that could even be argued to have had as much an effect as Robotniks ruling.
The number of dead that there must have been was almost unbelievable. I still couldnt quite begin to comprehend how much there might have been.
I was within a large street, walking along it, making my duties when it hit. Thankfully, I was in the middle of the street, a pretty good distance from either side of the buildings, so when the glass shattered and fell to the Earth, I was out of the way. But the poor souls who were shredded by it I couldnt forgive my luck.
A chasm began growing along the street itself as well, separating the ground into two sections, swallowing up vehicles and other people who were unable to react in time. Again, I was seemingly blessed more so then the unfortunate souls who couldnt make it. I had wings.
I soared up into the sky, where I would be able to watch and determine the true extent of the damage to Mobotropolis. No building was a safe place to land on, each one rumbling and shaking, or even falling apart, crumbling to the ground below. My heart was out towards those who were still on the ground, those who couldnt escape the devastation. I wept.
My name was Ryuji Faconer, and I was lucky. Exceptionally lucky.
OOC: I hope it's okay if I use three characters...if not, I'll edit.
IC:
A cemetery, on a hill just outside of Mobotropolis, was consumed by the earthquake. Even as the rumbling and shaking continued, the cries of those who were attending a service could be heard. After the initial quake, all was still at the cemetery...except for mummy wrappings, which pulled themselves out of the rubble and crawled rapidly to secure ground! Once the wrappings had gathered, they merged together, forming a vaguely humanoid shape. "To be buried alive, beneath the dead...I am truly sorry for your plight, mourners, but there is nothing I can do now for you."
This mummy, a being known as the Wayfarer, stood tall, more than eight feet, and sighed as he began to walk toward the city. Aloud, he said, "ah, to be free at last! Only Mother Nature held the power to free me from my tomb!"
Emitai cried out in alarm, same as the others in his office building. "What's going on!? Are we under attack?!"
A co-worker ran by his office, and shouted to him, "we're evacuating the building!"
Another worker commented, "dunno what it is, but it's bad!"
Emitai ran to the hallway, and looked in both directions. Something told him not to go down the fire escape with the others...in fact, it was so compelling, he shouted, "Not that way, this way!"
He began to run in the other direction. Some of his co-workers gave him funny looks, others tried to tell him to go the other way. Once he had reached the other side of the building, he looked out from the office, through glass windows, at the building across the street. "...Mr. Emitai, why did you go this way?"
Emitai turned, to see the new intern, Miss Shiska, standing in the doorway. "I had a hunch. Why didn't you go down with the rest?"
Shiska stepped into the room. "You're my supervisor; I'm trying to follow your example."
The building began to tilt, the shaking growing louder! Screams from the other side of the building were followed by the sound of collapsing stone and cement. Emitai knew the fire escape had collapsed, and now he could see that the entire building was falling in this direction! The floor above was collapsing down onto this one, and it would only be a few moments before this room was buried, too. "Shiska, do you trust me enough to take a risk?"
Shiska nodded, unable to speak, being too disturbed by the screams. "Then hold on," he replied.
He wrapped one arm around her waist, and lifted her up into his arms. Then, with a running start, he leaped through the window! They both screamed as they went flying through the air! Emitai had guessed right, and as his building fell, it got them close enough to the building across the street, so that they crashed through a window several floors down. They landed and rolled, stopping only as Emitai slammed into a desk! As the initial quake died down and paused, a section of the ceiling fell down, right on top of them! Emitai saw this, and pushed Shiska out of the way quickly, before getting buried!
This had all happened so fast...Shiska barely knew how to react. She began to cry, and in desperation, she began to dig through the rubble, trying to free Emitai!
OOC: Sounds interesting enough.
IC:
The grey-furred wolf had stepped onto the construction site, and he let out a hefty sigh. Better go see the coot and let em know Im here, he had said to himself, as he brushed his hand back through his thick, black hair. Slowly, he trudged over to the demountable, and knocked upon the door.
Whaddya want? A voice had called out, seeming irritated.
The wolf narrowed his eyes at this, recognizing the voice, but more importantly, the irritation in it. Oi! He had called back. Do you want the elp or not?
There was no reply, and the door had opened, as a badger stood there, facing the wolf. Oh, its you, he had said, the badgers face looking grim. Yeah, glad you could make it, weve been needing all the pair of hands we could get. Some of the people arent experienced enough for the job, so we need as much help as possible.
I know, I know, the wolf had nodded. He had heard all this the previous day, when he was told about this job offer. It wasnt easy adapting to the new lifestyle of living in Mobotropolis. He had been brought up a member of the resistance, and thats all he really knew much about. Though, he knew he was physically strong, thats why he knew he was here. What do you want me to do?
The badger raised an arm, pointing over to where a few people were standing around, discussing something. Head over there and talk to the bear. Hell assign you to a task.
Right, he had nodded once more, and headed on over as the badger retreated back into the demountable. As he approached the bear, he couldnt help but notice that he was missing an eye, but this was attempted to be covered by the tilt of the white hard-hat. Look, buddy, the guy up there said I should speak wit you, he flung an arm over his shoulder and pointed with his thumb back towards the demountable.
The bear had just finished talking to the other people, most of them being other workers, and they went about on their way, and so he faced the wolf, sizing him up. Whats your name, wolf?
Strider, was his reply.
You know anything about building?
A bit, Strider had replied with a light shrug of his broad shoulders.
Good, the bear huffed, and clamped a yellow hard-hat over his head, go get started over there, he pointed over to a large pile of bricks, which were being wheel barrowed away.
The rest of the day went uneventfully, as Strider worked on the site, doing various jobs here and there. And thats when it had happened. The first rumble was unable to be felt at first, until everything in the city began to shake violently.
The next few moments were complete chaos for Strider, as he ran back and forth, trying to avoid the bits and pieces which were collapsing from the unfinished building. And then, the entire framework came crashing down, and as it hit the ground, clouds of smoke and dust covered the block, and Strider had blacked out.
Ugh, his vision eventually returned to him, and picked himself up from off the ground. How long was I out for? He asked himself, and he looked down at his wrist watch. Only a few minutes. Damn it, he muttered under his breath, and he placed a hand to his head as he looked about, coughing hoarsely from the dust.
He strained his eyes open, looking about for anybody he recognized. He could see some of the workers he was working alongside with running around frantically, doing things his mind was trying to comprehend. Probably trying to assist others. Rubble lay everywhere, and he lifted his head up as something caught him. He could smell the scent of blood. He looked around again, surveying the area. Sure enough, there were dead bodies, ones which had been pulled from the rubble, and layed side by side, and he was sure there was more under the rubble. One more quick scan of the area revealed that the demountable was gone, too, hidden away under the ruins of the building.
Damn it, damn it, damn it, he now had growled, and he limped over to where some people were digging away at the rubble, to see if he could help.
Josh stood inside his shop and lit a cigarette with the cutting torch He never smoked. But he had an anxious and uneasy feeling that nothing else could shake. The cigarett barely helped. He felt a slight rumble.
"WTF was that", Josh said looking at his mechanic from across the room.
"I dunno", arashi answered a bit rattled himself.
The ground started shaking violently, lights flickered. a large tool chest started rolling across the floor and plowed right into one of the many cars in the shop. The light fell and shattered on the floor throwing sparks everywhere. Josh tried to see through the darkness when all of the sudden a blunt metal object hit him in the head knocking him unconcious.
Hours later...
"Ahhh my fricken head...", Josh said as he sat up holding his hand to his face.
A small bit of sunlight made it into the shop.
"Wonderful", Josh said as he looked at a car which stood halfway into the ground halfway into the air resting in a giant crack.
He got up and went to open the door of the main office. he turned the knob and realised he was now standing outside. all he could see was rubble from what buildings used to be there.
"You have got to be kidding me.", josh stood there with a blank expression on his face.
Shoe, a purple hedgehog with messy hair, had been sitting on the roof of a two-story office building in the middle of the city, annoying pedestrians with Star Wars on harmonica. She suddenly coughed once, making a comical honking train sound. "Grah." Shoe wiped the harmonica off and was about to start playing again, when the building started to tremble.
She looked left and right, trying to find the source of the rumbling. Then without warning, the building split in half, narrowly missing Shoe by a couple of feet. The other half of the building rose up, exposing the rooms inside, which were in total chaos. Luckily, the building didn't have any people in it. Shoe went white. Then her half of the building collapsed and she fell through the air.
WHUMPF! The hedgehog landed hard on a pile of trash bags. Lucky. However, many people on the street hadn't been so lucky. There was a giant split across the road, causing overturned cars and trapped pedestrians. She didn't notice any casualties, which was good. Shoe felt her right cargo pocket for her harmonica, where it usually was. There was nothing there.
"Nohohooooo!" Shoe buried her face in her hands and broke down crying. There were so many memories attached to that small musical instrument, going all the way back to when she was eight years old. The harmonica was gone.
OoC: Er, ShoeHedgie? No casualties? This is an earthquake zone here...
OOC: SPYDER GUNNER, what species are Josh and Arashi?
OOC: No casualties that Shoe saw, at least. But all that happened was the road and the empty building splitting where she was. Things'll heat up...
With a mighty push, Shiska managed to remove the last large chunk of cement off of Emitai! Emitai was still conscious, and for a moment, the two tabby cats looked into each others' eyes. Shiska broke the gaze, turning her attention to his blood-stained shirt. His right arm hung limply to his side, and several large gashes ran across his right side, one over his right eye! "I...I'm in too bad shape to be moved...Shiska...there should be a first aid kit down the hall..."
Shiska nodded, and ran to go get it. Emitai closed his good eye. "This is the result of my gamble...at least I saved someone..."
In moments, Shiska returned. When she saw Emitai, not moving, she let out a cry, and knelt down hurriedly next to him! "Emitai!" She slapped the side of his face, forcing him into consciousness! "Mr. Emitai, you can't sleep now! You've got to hold on, until we can get you to a hospital!"
Emitai coughed. Shiska began to clean and wrap his wounds, trying to stop the bleeding at the same time. "Shiska...leave me. The hospital is probably buried, anyway...save yourself."
She ran a hand across her eyes, wiping the tears away as a look of determination crossed her face. "I will not leave you! Not while I still have the strength to help you!"
Emitai smiled weakly. "You...remind me of my little sister..."
Breech looked around at the mostly demolished building, "Leave the bodies where they are," she advised the six or seven people who had been pulled out of the rubble.
"No! People could still be alive in the other stories," said the guard.
"And what do you propose we do for them?" asked Breech, "Send them a 'get well' card? There is nothing we can do for them except get out and get help as soon as possible."
"How are we supposed to get out?" asked one.
"There's a fire-escape this way," Breech replied, "It goes down a storey and then you'll have to jump to the next building. That one seems o be mostly intact."
"I... I don't think I can make that," said a man with a bad leg.
Breech rubbed her forehead, "Sure, fine," she muttered.
She made it over to the window again, and helped them through, "Come on, come on," she conplained, "We could have an aftershock anytime soon..."
Picking up a small child, she jumped the six feet to the next building.
"Come on, the less badly wounded first," Breech sighed, and helped them jump over, "And now the wounded," she grabbed someone with a broken leg, and managed to make it."
"So... you're just going to leave us here?" asked one of them.
"If you stick together, you can make it," Breech started to climb down the building, with her claws, "Don't worry, this building shouldn't fall down until the aftershocks hit."
Ryuji was beginning to tire. He couldn't just stay up here forever, watching whilst the city was wrecked, destroyed by a natural phenomenon and how people were simply dying as such. He tried looking for anywhere that could be a safe spot to land, but decided against it.
He was lucky to survive so far. He shouldn't just be allowed to do it, to survive by himself. It just wasn't fair. Many people were not as fortunate as him. Many of them could still be alive, but dying unless they got help. Help which he could give them.
He looked around frantically. He was entering shock, but regardless he strived to fight on. He couldn't succumb to that now. He hoped his luck lasted him longer so that he could help others with it.
A ruined building, closer to another one, almost collapsed onto it. Although the building didn't much look like it to him at first, he soon understood what had actually happened to it. Several stories of it were gone... the building was now reduced to maybe a half or less of what it once was. And that wasn't good. The rest of it could fall any second. Many must have already been dead in it, but some were still alive. He could see a group ammassing out of it, onto the building next to it. This building was in better condition, but for how long it could last was unknown. And the fact they were on the roof meant they were in quite the danger and it would take quite a while before they could get out of it.
Wounded. Wounded were at the edge of the roof that many of the people had gone onto. They would have to be left... in such a dangerous area. No way. Not going to happen. Not if he had a say in the matter.
Ryuji swooped in low, coming down at the same level of the roof. As Ryuji was swooping down, he spotted a cat descending the safer building using her claws. Although he didn't know who it was (it was in fact Breech) he still scoffed at the thought that, although she had the capability to get out of harms way, she wasn't helping any of the others still trapped. Hmp. Charming. That'll net you some good karma, for sure.
Ryuji stopped against the roof, where the man with the wounded leg was. (Again, this was the same man who Breech helped get to the other roof despite the man's protest that he couldn't.) This man was a ferret.
"This building won't stay up for long. I'll help as best as I can, but I can only take one passenger at a time. I'd suggest the person with the worst injury, since those who are okay have a better chance of getting out of here." Ryuji quickly spoke.
"Me!" The ferret quickly pleaded. "P-please."
"Right. Let's go." Ryuji finished, flying over towards the ferret and grabbing him by his hands, before swooping away from the area.
Shoe dried her eyes, sniffed, and looked up at all the destruction from her place by the demolished trash bags. No sound came from the split road and mess of overturned cars. She stood up and winced, noticing a slight pain in her right knee. Seems it got twisted during the fall. No worry. The purple hedgehog took an unsure step. Then another. Her knee would be fine.
She stumbled over to the nearest upside-down car. "Hello? Are you okay?" No answer. Shoe got down on all fours to peer inside. Squinting through the dust and broken glass, she caught sight of the most horrible image she'd ever seen. She immediately turned and vomited. There went breakfast.
The hedgehog crabwalked backwards and stood up again unsteadily, noticing that the street had become strangely silent. A dark red puddle moved slowly across the pavement from a crushed SUV. The stabbing scent caught Shoe's attention. Her face went white as she only then realized that everyone around her was now dead, crushed by cars and debris from the split earth that reared up several yards above. She fainted.
-----
Among the twisted metal of what had once been an ice cream truck, something glinted. A white wolf with red and black stripes and icy blue eyes painfully lifted his head to see what it was. Blood flowed from a gash above his left ear. He blinked it away and slowly reached over a deflated tire for the object. Tears filled his eyes as he brought it to his face. A harmonica, smeared with blood and dirt. The gentle wolf used his black t-shirt to wipe it off. Raising it to his mouth, he began to play.
A hauntingly beautiful version of Kakariko Village floated through the silent street. Then suddenly, he coughed, cutting off the song, and put his aching head in his hands. Hot tears fell as he broke down crying.
"...She can't be..." he thought to himself, the ground blurring.
-----
Shoe gradually became aware of a faint melody breaking the eerie silence. Without opening her eyes, her ears pricked up by themselves.
"That song..." she thought, furrowing her brows. "I always play that song..."
Without warning, the song seemed to choke and die. She sank back into darkness.
OOC Note: I plan on playing Wayfarer as an evil character. Not the primary villain by any means, but if this causes any problems, let me know.
IC:
Mobotropolis was a mess. The tall mummy looked around as he walked deeper into the city. "Hardly anyone left alive...I can feel scattered survivors, but I'm looking only for the strongest. I need to consume a strong life force...there."
Wayfarer rounded what was left of a building, and saw a group of what appeared to be construction workers helping some of the buried out of the rubble. One of them in particular caught his attention, a wolf (by the name of Strider, but he didn't know that). "He has a strong life force! Perfect to regain my powers!"
Strider was the first to see the strange, tall person. Wayfarer moved quickly, sliding forward and punching! Strider felt the solid bandaged hand hit his gut, and he bent over a bit from the force. As Way moved forward for another blow, Strider reflexively swung one of his arms out. The fist plowed through the mummy's head, and bandages flew everywhere as Wayfarer fell apart! Strider recouped, puzzled by what had happened, as the bandages 'ran' away.
Behind some rubble, Wayfarer pulled himself together. "Ouch! Of course, I'm too weak right now. I need to consume life force to get stronger, or else I won't be able to beat the ones that are still strong! It has been far too long...I barely know my own abilities anymore."
Breech looked at the mess. Maybe soon, she'd remember that Mobotropolis was just a city, and not a parent or a friend.
Maybe soon, she'd remember that it was just a load of cement artistically gathered, and not as alive as any city could be.
Maybe soon, she'd remember that the people who had died weren't important, that she didn't know them or care about them.
Maybe soon, she wouldn't feel so much like... crying.
She set her teeth and stepped out into the mess. She had to help. Even a theif had standards to uphold. Her ears picked up a strange melody - it couldn't be far. There must be other survivors, there must be...
The two cats staggered out of the office building, and onto the street. Emitai's right side was wrapped in bandages, his bleeding stopped, and Shiska was supporting him. They moved slowly, but Shiska had to move Emitai. Emitai shook his head. "Look at this...wholesale destruction. Even if the hospital survived, it won't be safe."
Shiska nodded. Her crying had stopped, for the moment, but her face was still stained with tears. It didn't help at all that they were covered in cement dust (grey stuff). "...where do we go? There must be dozens of injured..."
Emitai pointed in a direction. "That way. When we were removing the piles of scrap, we found an old shelter. It should still be intact, having been designed for this sort of thing."
Shiska began to walk in that direction. Emitai was too injured to help her much, and she wasn't strong enough to carry him properly, so they moved at a crawl.
"What the Hell was that?" He let out a sigh, and held a hand over his stomach. That didn't feel particuarly nice, but at least it had gone away, for now, at least.
A few of the others had seen what had happened, and had given him a hand to see if he needed any help. Lucky for him he was fine, and only winded, and when he recovered, instead of going back to helping the others, he made it a personal mission to find those walking bandages. One, to see what the hell it was. Two, to burn the bandages for even hitting him when there were people who needed helping.
He reached over, picking up a shovel, and slung it over his shoulder, as he walked the rubble, looking around with each step.
Wayfarer moved quickly away from the construction site, following another source of life. He didn't know that he would soon be followed. Looking up, he saw a winged Mobian helping others from a high place. "That one would be perfect! The unique ability to fly would be a great addition! But, I'm too weak to fight a healthy animal. Ah, but there are wounded as well...easy prey. All I have to do is time this right, and then I can defend myself properly."
Way stalked closer, keeping to the shadows. The wolf he had attacked earlier managed to catch a glimpse of him as he moved. Strider could see the mummy moving closer to others, and could feel the evil intent flowing from him.
OOC: Just to mention, Emitai and Shiska can bump into anyone at anytime.
