Carefully dodging the blasts the "serpent soldier" was about within attack range when he felt a sharp pain in his shoulder. Could it have been possible that this kid had actually hit him? Whatever it was he knew it hurt and, he could not take another one like it. With a violent hiss he dodged into a nearby alley to regroup, direct combat was not his greatest strength, he needed a more stealthy approach.
The charge pack was wavering at a half. He was shocked he was able to fire that many rounds on half a pack. He only had one more, and this place didn't exactly have any corner stores that sold batteries.
The boy cursed under his breath looking between the alley and the woman. He kept forgetting this place was full of people like this one. Supernatural powers and all.
A moment later he'd cooled down and dodge for the cover of the adjacent alley, skittering around a large trash bin and poking out to the side with scanner in one hand and weapon in the other, both trained on the alley the man he'd attacked at fled down.
Brisemont *smiled again* Because I dont like seeing children suffering *as he walked toward him he reached into his black robe taking some coins and held them out in his mechanised right hand out for the young flying fox to take* There take this, it will be enough for a decent warm meal
"Would you like another biscuit?"
She nodded her head enthusiastically; already reaching across the table to grab another.
Warm afternoon sunlight shone through the curtains and illuminated the small sitting room. Through the slightly open window you could hear the sounds of the street below.
Then a knock came at the door.
Rising from her wooden chair, the silver tabby female glided to open it. At this point, the brown tabby kitten emitted a squeaking cry of alarm, the mother ignored her and proceeded to let two gentleman in.
"Mrs Whinters?"
"Yes,"
The kitten tried to tell her to push the men out the door and not listen to them, but when she opened her mouth no sound came out.
"We have some bad news,"
The Tabby began to pale, transforming before the kit's eyes as she became thinner and dark circles formed around her eyes. The greyness began to spread to the rest of the room, the pretty biscuits her mother had so tenderly baked crumbled to dust.
Gradually the life was being sucked out of the room.
Amber ran to her mother's side, the two men fading into obscurity, as she took her hand, pulling at it, tryign to snap her mother out of it.
It felt cold and hard, like stone.
Dismayed, she stepped back and watched in horror as cracks formed from where she'd touched the hand, spreading up the arm, along the shoulder, then down the chest to the heart.
With a soft sigh the statue collapsed in a pillar of cloud.
The kitten was forced to jump back as the cracks spread a long the floor and the ceiling, across the table and the door. She ran to the door but the knob disintegrated in her hand. Ever largening holes crept towards her as she tried in vain to push open the door, which though breaking up would not seem to give way. Finally the entire room collapsed in on itself and with a cry the kitten was swallowed in blackness.
Where she lay against the wall, Amber's eyelids twitched and fluttered, caught up in a dreamworld, and unaware of the happenings in reality which were to impact greatly on her future...
OOC: Lol, well, I hope that's okay
"Stupid boy..." The irritation could clearly be heard in the voice of the soldier. After all, things had been going great until that troublesome youth had appeared. What bothered him most though was the weapon, where would a normal person get technology like that? Although nothing about him seemed normal to begin with.
"I should observe this subject more closely, he may prove useful." With this in mind he quickly scaled the alley wall and, once more headed toward the roof. He must be careful not to make anymore mistakes, he would capture both this strange boy and, the already unconscious girl.
The halfbreed followed his opponent with scanner that was already pointed at the adjacent alley.
Damn, he was good. Marcus let the words slip from his mouth. His opponent now lay defeated on the ground. Marcus eyed the sword in his hands. A strange thing, having odd red runes carved into the blade. He then looked back to his opponents body
A sad thing, to be killed by your own sword. Guess he should have thought more carefully about fighting a Knight Captain. Marcus then turned toward his subordinates, one of which was injured.
I told you to be more careful Marcus.
Sorry Sir Nick.
The injury is pretty bad. Ed.
Right, the base is only another block from here. Marcus went over and lefted Nick into his arms, then the three of them head towards their base.
Meanwhile back at the bar
Glass and wood shattered as the human came flying through the back door of the bar. Coming down in a roll he came up on his feet grasping his left side.
Damn you might have overdone it, Michael. He said to himself.
The pain in his side was coming from a knife wound which was bleeding through his clothes. The fight in the bar had been tough and, although he had come out the winner he was hurting pretty bad.
Got to get to higher ground Michael then headed toward the nearest alley.
And, at last we come to Henry, Amber and, our scaled friend a few blocks away
Where did you go? The anger was easily heard in the hisses that were coming from the mouth of the soldier. After making it to the roof he had been unable to locate the half-breed youth that had attacked him. Just about when his anger had reached its limit he heard a familiar voice behind him.
Having problems, Caster The voice was coming from a tall figure wrapped in black from his feet to his neck. Above the neck he had the face of an unassuming kitsune, his eyes were a deep blue and, seemed to hide even deeper thoughts. At his waist hung two swords, both curved, with hilts and guards of ivory.
Nothing you can help with, Kensuke. The hatred in Casters voice was clear.
Is that so Kensuke then pointed to Castors injured shoulder.
This is nothing! Hissed Caster.
Seems that boy did a number on you. Kensuke.
You were watching? Why dont you mind your own business? Caster.
Come now Caster, we are comrades after all. Besides I have been following that boy since he entered the bar. Kensuke.
If you want him so badly you can collect his corpse, after I pay him back for what he did. Caster then turned back toward the street. He must find that boy or, he would look like a fool.
Kensuke watched from behind, curious to see more of this Half-breed in action.
(OOC: Really sorry for the delay all )
The Flying Fox once again went quiet, regarding the Echidna for a moment longer with a careful eye. Then, after a while, he slowly stood up and jumped from the low roof, landing on the floor a few feet away from Brisemont in a crouch. Quickly straightening up, he stepped forward and gently took the proffered coins, taking a step backwards again as he grabbed the money as if still a little wary of the figure.
"Thanks." he murmured quietly, his voice much softer and warmer, less cautious than before, as he bowed his head respectfully towards the man. "What's your name?"
Brisemont My name is Brisemont, ah mercenary and ex dark legioner of the Dark legion *does the Dark legion salute then asks* and whats your name boy?
The boy darted clumsily back down alley yelping out what sounded like, "Icks is wicks on! Mosh lack heh coke soak!" as he scrambled into another alley a few blocks away. The hybrid darted around, finally collapsing on the far side of a dumpster and pulling his knees up as far as possible, intent on hiding and waiting the attacker out.
* "Icks is wicks on. Mosh lack heh coke soak." - Probably meant 'Ix'is wix'an. Maslak hecocxso'k' which literally translates to 'Little evil S$*%$. Fearsome cow.'
Dark Legion...he didn't know that title, but for some reason it didn't sound too friendly. This Echidna was certainly a curiosity.
"Vision." he replied quietly to Brisemont's question, raising his head with a dignefied air as he spoke, looking for a moment far more like one of noble birth than a poor street kid in ragged, dirty clothes. "My name is Vision." A slight pause as his eyes flicked up and down Brisemont once more, as though considering something, before he seemed to come to a descision and spoke up again: "And if I may be so bold...? What exactly is the 'Dark Legion'? I like to think I've been around enough to have a decent knowledge of the world around me, but that name is one even I have no knowledge of..."
Caster quickly scaled down the side of the building, hoping to find the hybrid. In the meantime in the alleyway as Corky lay beside the dumpster trying to hide he heard a strange noise. From the shadows a figured appeared and, began to speak. "Maybe hiding is not the best course of action." The voice belong to the man from the roof, Kensuke.
"I'm a kid you stupid jerk, I can't fight an adult," the boy hissed out, trying to keep his voice down.
"I wouldn't call Caster an adult, I think that title requires some form of intelligence. Besides I think he means to do some bad things to you." Kensuke had an almost indifferent tone to his voice.
"Why don't you stop him then. Or are you like all other adults and just wanna see us kids suffer." The boy was getting louder.
"Suffering can be the path to strength. Besides it would be unfare of me to help, you already have so many advantages."
"You sound like my last two dads. Ixcis. I'm sure my eighty pounds of no muscle can take him down, are you stupid?" The boy stood up this time, his hands balled into small fists, hazel eyes glaring furious at the comment.
A small sparkle appeared in Kensuke's eyes and, then was gone. Maybe this boy would be better for what he wanted than he had thought.
"True I suppose, he does have weapons but, you have something better." With that Kensuke produced a small blade from his side and, tossed it to Corky.
"You have a strengh within that is greater than any weapon, you just need to learn to use it. Speaking of which, I think you are about to get your chance." Kensuke vanished into the shadows and, suddenly Caster appeared at the end of the alley.
He'd misjudged, the knife met with the clutzy hands of a pre-adolescent, cutting one of his arms before clattering to the ground. The boy stared at the blood coming out of him for a moment, unsure what to do. It did reveal one thing though, he didn't seem to feel any pain for his injury.
Caster heard the knife hit the ground. "I've got you now!"
The reptile leaped onto the dumpster and, looked down at the hybrid with a sadistic expression.
"Two of you to kill me? Hope your buddies laugh at you for the next 50 years." the boy snarled suddenly glaring daggers at his wouldbe killer.
"Two? Can't you count boy? It only takes one of me to skin your pathetic corpse." Hissed Caster.
"You ain't got the guts to hit me, stupid Mobian." The boy snapped back indignantly, but his eyes started to fail him, a hint of fear starting to spread through his features like a virus.
Caster Lunged forward hoping to strike a killing blow, unfortunately for him a figure from the shadows appeared and blocked his strike.
"Kensuke!? What are you doing?" Demanded Caster.
"I am afraid I can't let you do that, he could be very valuable to our cause." A small smile spread across Kensuke's face as his off hand gripped a sword at his belt.
"Wait, you can't..." With a flash blood stained the alley wall, much of it also covering Corky. Kensuke looked down at Caster's corpse and, then up at Corky.
"How disappointing, I hope in the future you will perform better." Kensuke resealed his sword and began to walk back into the shadows.
The boy didn't think twice, taking off out of the alley and back. He didn't care who he ran into, just so long as it wasn't another one like them, he started feeling lightheaded, the blood loss from his injury was starting to affect him. Even if it didn't hurt, it didn't stop him from getting weak. He pushed forward hoping to find anyone.
OOC: Sorry for taking to long to post
Brisemont *looks at Vision after he asked this question* Sure I will explain *then he starts telling him the Story how the Dark Legion begun, from being Started by Dimitris son Meniker and the ideals they stood for to reclaim and save their technology wich the Echidna civilisation had embraced years ago* the dark legion was a great cause to fight for and if they werent for them I wouldnt even be here today talking with you *as he said so he looked at his bionic arm under his robed sleeve* all thanks to my parents and the Grandmaster I followed... *then looks at Vision* but you dont need to worry about me, there was some extremists in the Dark legion who made us see as evil people but I followed those who wanted to get peaceful solutions
Vision was listening to the Echidna with a curious air, his expression thoughtful and his large ears standing tall on his head. "It must have been great, back then in the time of civilisation..." he murmured quietly, "...where society could organise such groups, and have need of them." His brow dipped slightly as a thought occured to him. "But if you're part of this Legion now, that must mean it's still going, right? How did your ancestors survive the fall of Robotnik and the chaos?"
Brisemont *at that question his expression got a bit sad* Well the Dark legion no longer exists, it been long gone years ago even before all this chaos, all because of the selfishness of one of our own people, leading our legion to ruin and the remaining legioners that survived scattered all around Mobius *he got deep in tought of that terrible day*
(OOC: Just out of curiosity by the way Al, how old is Brisemont supposed to be? You remember that Kcal's first post set events here seven hundred years after Robotnik's defeat, right?)
OOC Yep I know, it just that Brisemonts heavily implanted body made him live longer than a normal mobian, I wanted to make him other special case like Dimitri who also lived many years, still if you want me to correct my post a little I will do it =)
(OOC: Ah ok, just checking^^)
Vision stepped back slightly, realising he'd touched a sensitive nerve. "I'm sorry..." Before he could say anything else, however, something came charging out of one of the alleyways beside the duo, almsot running straight into Brisemont in it's headlong charge! Vision lept into the air, spreading his wings to climb out of the way as his enigmatic brown eyes stared at the newcomer in trepidation...but wait, didn't he recognise him from somewhere...?
(OOC: Cue Toby )
The boy stumbled back, it was only after both gave pause that the winged Mobian noticed the ugly wound on the young man's arm. He still looked the oddball, smooth furless tan skin and his canine facial features made him only a hair shy of being an overlander, get a nose and hair don't make a Mobian either. It was obvious he wasn't accepted as either, neither race would leave a child bleeding on the street.
The youth sneered and gripped his injured arm tightly, trying to manually compress the bloodflow. He was forcing a rough look, glaring eyes, fighting position, and his free hand balled into a small fist. Staring down Vision silently, the Mobian didn't know if the boy wanted help, or would attack. He'd only meant him for moments earlier that night but even that short time's observations didn't equate to what he saw before him. Just what had happened to the kid? He was filthy now, smelled like the bar, and there was blood dropping from the large cut on his arm.
Brisemont *after Vision flyed out of reach he turned around to see who was running in their direction, it was another mobian boy, but he looked a bit diferent, alsop he notices he is wounded and ver tense* Uh what happened to you?
The single word, if it could be called that, left his mouth. Shortly after it's flight the youth went limp, the combination of blood loss and stress finally coming to a climax and rendering the child unconscious.
"He-na..."
The tough looking youth's appearance, nearly the size of adult, finally matched his insides he suddenly became helpless child laying on the road.
OOC: I hope you find ok this post
Brisemont *sees the young strange Mobian collapse and quikly kneels beside him to check him* Mmmmh good he is still alive, but I have to do something to stop the bleeding *he reaches inside his tattered robe taking out some shreeded cloth he uses like bandages in case of wounds and starts bandaging the Mobians wound and applying pressure to stop the bleeding*
The shock of the strange kid's appearence had momentarily stunned Vision into immobillity, incertain of how to react as he saw the boy look up at him and say something he didn't understand. As the figure collapsed, however, he suddenly came to his sences once again and dropped back down to the floor beside Brisemont, his brow furrowing into a worried frown. "Is he okay? I saw him in the bar earlier, but he dissapeared...he might have been hurt trying to escape." Despite still being somewhat wary of the Echidna before him, Vision actually stepped forward, right alongside Brisemont as the other figure tended the boy's wounds. "Anything I can do to help?"
Brisemont *stops treating the wounded boy a moment while looking at Vision with a grateful smile* Yeah thanks, just desinfect and bandage some of his minor wounds at his legs *gives vision the desinfecting water bottle and some shreeded cloth*
The Flying Fox got to work, tipping the liquid onto the cloth and dabbing it on the boy's wounds as he looked at him with a reassuring smile, trying to put him at ease. "Hey, you okay?"
