A note first.
Oh wow, it's my first rp in years, and blah blah blah...
And this first post of mine is one big OOC thing to set the rp up before I go take a nap.
_____________
Then...
For years Keesha Randolph and her fellow conspirators have run the world from behind the scenes, however, when one became president and exposed everything, the conspiracy began to fall to ashes. She retreated to her Blue Mountain stronghold where a military began an all-out assault on the place. In the end she escaped to another universe through the omni-magnetic portal in the lower levels of the base and died shortly afterward. The world thinks it's free of her tyranny. It couldn't be more wrong...
_____________
Now...
Welcome to the great nation of Arnelia. You are a soldier in the Arnelian armed forces. Now lets move to the theatre of operations.

Far to the north, in the frozen land of whirlwind springs, a threat to world security has developed. An underpaid and underappreciated general has decided that his work at keeping the country safe hasn't been properly rewarded and has decided to use nuclear armed ICBMs to start a new world war.
_____________
Info about the theatre of operations.
Political Info
Whirlwind Springs is commonly known as the graveyard of forgotten wars. Namely because, since the beginning of civilization up here, pointless wars were won and lost up here all the time that nobody ever hears of. Such instances as the war between the military and Turtleshell Industries, a small internal war between the government and rouge elements of the military, and the takedown of Skycarrier Sierra by terrorist elements operating in the area clearly show that it still happens today. The area has a large population of left-wing survivalist gun nuts, particularly near Fins Creek. There is alot of land up here that's owned by the government, military, or some sort of private entity up here. Such properties include the Whirlwind Springs Federal Pen, Turtleshell Fortress, and the White Mountain Military Research Facility. At present there are several rebel factions fighting for control of the area, the Kuna Mori, the Crescent Mist Clan, and the Narim Lonia. The first two are actual rebel factions, the last one is more of an crazed anarchistic cult. It's suspected that there is also at least one more but that theory has not been confirmed.

Geographical Info
Ever hear the phrase "cold day in hell"? Take that and add destroyed military vehicles. The place isn't known as the "graveyard of forgetten wars" for no reason. Destroyed tanks and mechs, crashed planes and choppers, and wrecked trucks dot the snowbound forest landscape. There are mountains in many places the largest of them being White Mountain. Towards the eastern border of the Whirlwind Springs sector is the Lunar Cliffs Oil Refinery (far eastern border of sectors 6 and 9). Towards the north in the far northern latitutes of the sector is the iced-over Whilae Sea (sectors 1,2, and part of 3), on the north shore of which is an old miltiary facility formerly owned by Jonathan Pollins (sector 2), but now used by Fargo and modified to be used as a missile base. Several areas are in the center of Whirlwind Springs. White Mountain and the ruins of the old research facility that occupies it's slopes (Sector 5, southeast of the borders of sectors 1, 2, and 4), the reains of the Corporate owned Turtleshell Fortress(border between Sectors 4 and 5), and Whirlwind Springs itself (sector 5). In the southern sectors there is a federal prison (border of sectors 1 and 2), and an Arnelian military base. (sector 1) Also, there's an abandoned chemical plant in sector 4.

Territorial Info
On a sector grid, Whirlwind Sprigns is divided into 9 large sectors like this.
1 | 2 | 3
4 | 5 | 6
7 | 8 | 9
Sector 1 is controled by a hostile and unknown entity.
Sector 2 is mostly controlled by Gen. Fargo and is his HQ, but the Crescent Mist Clan is fighting for control for the eastern areas and the Kuna Mori are trying to conquer from the south, however, Fargo has a large enough army of his own to keep both of them at bay. The unknown entity has not attacked Fargo because the group seems to sympathize with Fargo's cause.
Sector 3 is the HQ of the Crescent Mist Clan, nobody has tried to go in and conquer since a minority faction which formerly controled Sector 6 called Shiwina Nala was slaughtered after attacking.
Sector 4 used to be completely controlled by the Kuna Mori but then the unknown group attacked from the north and the Arnelian military used the opportunity to attack from the south in an effort to eliminate the Kuna Mori. Both groups have been making significant territorial gains.
Sector 5 is completely controlled by the Kuna Mori and is their HQ. Although the Crescent Mist Clan and the Arnelian military have put up constant assault on the area, the Kuna Mori have prevented them from making any significant territorial gains.
Sector 6 was Crescent Mist Clan territory after they brutally slaughtered the Shiwina Nala until the Kuna Mori tried attacking because they felt that the Crescent Mist Clan was too proud of it's accomplishment.
Sector 7 is controlled purely by the Arnelian military and is used mostly as a staging area for military operaitons.
Sector 8 was formerly part of the Arnelian military's "control zone" but now it's under siege from the north by the Kuna Mori and the Narim Lonia from the east.
Sector 9 is the HQ of the Narim Lonia and is currently under attack from the Kuna Mori because they felt that the Narim Lonia were a threat to not only them, but the general population as well.
(note, Fargo's troops can be found scattered throughout the region, not just in sector 2)
_____________
Objectives
These are your objectives for the mission, more may be added as time goes on.

Primary Objectives
Stop General Fargo from launching the nuclear warheads.

Secondary Objectives
Capture Fargo alive, if possible.
Destroy the pirate radio broadcast transmitter.
_____________
Additional Info
This is additional info you might find useful, again, more may be added later.
Gen. Daniel Fargo: Daniel is a white squirrel who works in the military. Time and time again he'd prevent an international incident only to have the promotion passed off to a colleuge. He seemed to be getting stressed and bitter but now it seems he's finally gone over the edge. He has nuclear weapons and a small highly trained army that is loyal to him and he's not afraid to teach the world a lesson.

Mimi "Mimic" Keletzi: This beautiful pink fox was formerly part of Kaldry Company's "Shadow Platoon". She got the nickname Mimic because she wore, for lack of proper term, a treasure box suit over her uniform. The only part of her visible when she moves are her feet and her tail which she keeps sticking out of a hole in the back, but that's also visible when she's stationary. After Operation Steel Fire she supposedly went into business for herself. This is important because intelligence indicates that she's working for Fargo now.

Linsey Carpenter: A yellow fennec fox, Linsey is the daughter of former war hero Thomas Carpenter, Linsey runs a liberal pirate radio show from a broadcast station up in Whirlwind Springs. She's supposedly the leader of the Kuna Mori. (note: only supposedly, but she is a high ranking member, since the leader is really reclusive, she represents him which leads people to falsely believe it's her)

Kuna Mori: The Kuna Mori are an insurgent rebel group made up mostly of foreigners who moved to the Whirlwind Springs area, but many of the xenophobic locals have been joining up in recent months. The reason they're so hard to wipe out is because the locals shelter them. The locals believe that the Kuna Mori are fighting for them, and they aren't really that far off. It's because of the world around everyone that so many wars have been fought up here. They tend to wear arctic camo and always wear headbands. The leader is a CIA NOC (non-official cover operative) named Narcinani Wakiinda. They are likely the most friendly group up there.

Crescent Mist Clan: The Crescent Mist Clan is a highly-trained militaristic group made up of people with an unknown purpose. They'd be the most enigmatic group up there since they clearly exhibit no real cause, no real purpose, they just fight. Their training is more advanced than that of the Arnelian military. Male soldiers wear purple uniforms, females wear lavender. The leader is Lily Taylor, granddaughter of the CEO of a major communications company.

Narim Lonia: The Narim Lonia is a crazed cult of anarchistic fanatics. Not the type of fantics who drink the poisoned lemonade and drop over dead, they're the type of fanatics who raid military bases and launch attacks on civilian populations. Their motivation is to conquer the area so they can kill as many people and obtain as much military equipment as possible so they can move south and kill as many more people as possible. They wear hooded robes over their clothes and the color of the robe is used to indicate rank. Black robes are officers, red are elites, and brown are grunts. It is unknown who their leader is but it is known that they have a connection with the unknown faction.

The Unknown Group: The unknown group is sympathetic with Fargo's cause and is apparently supplying him with equipment. Their identity will be known later. There's not much info on these guys but they're heavily armed, highly equipped, and they wear white uniforms.

Operation Name: Spiral Thunder
Weather: Blizzard conditions
Time of Day: Night
Time: 22:35

For those in the military, insertion was set to be by helicopter but anti-aircraft fire from the Kuna Mori hit the tail and forced the bird to land before it reached the LZ in sector 5.

Post a profile here. Basicly for profile stuff all you need is a name, rank (you're allowed to chose any rank up to major), specialty (if you have one, i.e. comms expert, demo expert, ect), and brief profile.
This is mine. (if it's not good enough, I can improve later)
Name: Wally Dallon
Age: 25
Appearance: black fur, short red-dyed hair, desert-camo pants, arctic-camo shirt, black military issue shoes.
Species: Wolf
Rank: Corporal
Specialty: Helicopter Pilot (that's a lie, it only says that on a forged ID paper, in reality his specialty is actually electronics)
Weapon: OceanTech KT51 AAW (Advanced Assault Weapon)(note, it's an imaginary weapon, made by an imaginary corporation in the rp world)
Extra Equipment: A prototype targeting eyepiece (Wally scored it off a friend in the DoD, this is actually it's first use in the field.)
Bio: Wally is an experienced soldier who was with Kaldry Company until Steel Fire, after that he filed for transfer and ended up in a differnt company in the same division. Now he's up here in Whirlwind Springs which he absolutely hates.
______________
Of course, rules and stuff.
This is generally a modern-day thing (which kinda means no magic or anything), well near-future is more like it. Laser weapons are available, but usually not to the military, and generally the ones that are have large flaws and are commonly still stuck at the drawing board, unless you're one of those weird government spooks that have everything possible available to them.

Which reminds me, there are several types of roles available besides military. For starters you can be some weird government spook. Other such available roles are a local person caught in the middle, perhaps a rebel. This is a rather open-ended world with many possibilities, be creative. Heck you can even be the guy who shot the chopper down.

I'll leave you guys to post first, tired.

OOC: I guess we're both busy, Meo. This was a great idea. We could not do justice to it by ourselves. Keep your imagination running wild . . .

Edit: Just in case you really are waiting for a first post before you respond, I am prepared to show you that I am serious.

I do not do any profiles now because I seek your approval of the characters I choose.

-----------------------

IC: "Damage. Damage. Damage. Damage!" came a deep growly voice from the largest member of the team. He might have been strapped in for the "landing" like all of the others, but his commander had selected him to go back into the cargo hold and make sure all of the live ammunition was secured as it ought to be.

The owner of the voice in question was First Lieutenant Sbruce Kallicco and he was bruised in numerous places, a few of them undignified.

He hadn't closed his eyes through the crash. Instead, they had been glued to the rack on which most of the live ammunition rounds had been stored for the flight; he had found one of the straps alarmingly loose and was in the process of reburning it when the flight was so rudely ended with the controled crash of just moments ago.

A few of the crates had broken loose and were upended around him on the C-hold's floor; one was squarly on his chest. It was undamaged, unlike the others. He glanced over at the Travesty-Reand explosive rounds crate on his left. It had been jolted open and he could see the disconcerting shine of multiple shell casings in the light of a flash which was coming towards him.

"Damage! Damage! Damage!" Sbruce swore again, sitting up and shielding his eyes from the flash's glare.

"Enough of that. We don't have time to speak our minds right now."

The voice behind the flash belonged to Sbruce's mission commander, a timber wolf by the name of Marri`arryn MrkGrowlner and a tough cookie by all accounts.

She extended her hand to him and heaved him up with little effort. "Are you functional?" she demanded of him.

Sbruce rubbed a few places and bit his tongue to keep from swearing again. "Yeah, I'm altogether. Just not looking forward to huffing gear around ahead of schedule," he mumbled, setting the box in his paws back in its nitch.

"You'll get over it," Marri`arryn informed him confidently.

She turned toward the cockpit and shouted, "Get your gear together, kids. You may have figured out that we are walking from here." And on that last note; "And Mr. Dallon? Get your sorry rear-end out here!"

The entire strike team hustled out of the passenger area and stepped carefully past the two figures in the bottleneck of the cargo hold, making for the racks and chests that held their fieldgear.

"What are you going to do about him?" Sbruce inquired of his commander carefully. "You gonna strand him here?"

Marri`arryn stiffened. "None of your private business, Mr. Kallicco," she snapped, glaring at him disapprovingly. "You will know when everyone else does."

OOC: Various

My Questions on points of order, logic and background:

Observation/assumption: Wally obviously has a special role to play.

Was the chopper drop to be in and out, or was the chopper to be 'parked'?

If Wally's not on the level and working undercover, how did he fake being able to fly the chopper? You noted he didn't want to be where he is; he's the one with the forged papers!

And what about the current weather condition? If it's "blizzard", the chopper must be a flying fortress to have been hit in the dark and in heavy snowfall.

What about the AA emplacement that shot the chopper? Is it mobile or an outpost? How many soldiers are detailed(assigned) to it?

What about snow vehicles? What sort, how big and how many in the chopper, if any?

Will you control more than just Wally on the mission? Can you handle two or three? Do you want to have the leading character?

My chars.:

A lizard who was a bad choice to send on an ARCTIC mission(serious SNAFU).

A cold weather animal, probably a polar bear.

The commander of the mission, perhaps a timber wolf but maybe a wolverine.
