The war angered Chaos, as the Echidna went to the Emeralds for one last, desperate burst of power Chaos killed them. The Echidnas ensured the rebirth of the spawn.

In the present day Robotnik has taken over and Sonic was incarcerated, but was rescued by Knuckles. Hiran had created an under ground resistance against Robotnik.
