(OOC: This is something I've been working on for quite a bit, and hopefully it'll last a while. As the title says, it's a Pokemon RP, but no one's gonna be RPing as a Pokemon... well, not directly, anyway. Your main character is a Pokemon Trainer! Before things start though, I've got a real infodump of rules, suggestions, and whatnot. Seems like a wall of text, but please read through it.
Your
Trainer
Your trainer
must be human. If the character you want to use is anthro, I suggest making a
human version of them first. No exceptions. The minimum age for your character
is also at least 16 years of age. The representative organizations in this RP
don’t take rookie trainers into their ranks.
You can
carry up to six Pokemon with you. This is already an in-universe rule, so it
applies here as well. Not that everyone will actually have six on their team,
it is simply up to the player. There may or may not be opportunities to gain
and/or lose a ‘Mon over the course of the story.
Your
Pokemon
Most Pokemon
from all five generations are available. Of course, you CANNOT have a legendary
Pokemon on your team. I’ll consider this a form of powerplaying/god-modding,
and no one wants those kinds of RPers.
Keep baby
(pre-evolved) Pokemon to a minimum. I recommend evolving them over the course
of the story if you have one on your team. ‘Mons who’ve fully evolved (Stage 2’s)
should have evolved fairly recently. Of course, not too recent; a decent time
frame could be about 12 to 18 months, but it can be a little longer.
You can
specialize in one type, but if not, it’s recommended to form a balanced sort of
team.
Like babies,
Shiny Pokemon are kept to a minimum. These guys are rare to begin with. I’m
only allowing ONE trainer to have ONE Shiny Pokemon in their possession. This
is first come, first served; the RPer with the Shiny must make it when posting
their character profiles. Once again, this is the RPers’ choice.
The
Factions
Your trainer
can be part of one of two major factions.
The “Trackersâ€:
The true name of this organization is not known to the general public. Their
members identify themselves as much, and they typically have no form of
identification. Some members wear a red armband or handkerchief on their
person. The Trackers are a civilian formed and run organization, and its
members are come from all regions. Their main objective is the protection of
Pokemon as well as people. To that end, they work with almost anyone they can,
including law enforcement, regional Gym Leaders, Elite Four, and Champions to
accomplish their missions. These often involve rescues, resolving conflicts,
and more often than not clashing with criminal organizations.
Metamorphosis:
It is not known where this criminal syndicate is based, but it has already
begun making a name for itself by getting a hold of old research on Pokemon
evolution from the currently disbanded Team Rocket. Current reports in
possession of the Trackers suggest they intend to use this technology in one of
their major projects. Low-ranking organization members are in dark uniform,
although plenty of them wear street clothes. Like many other criminal
organizations, Pokemon are stolen from trainers and involved in underground
operations.
Others:
These are ordinary people not involved in the above two factions. These are
Trainers, Coordinators, Breeders, etc. who travel on their journeys or work
with Pokemon.
Miscellaneous
Information
This will
most likely be character driven and/or mission based. Subplots between
characters are allowed, although you should let others know beforehand.
To avoid
character overload, I recommend that an RPer have one human, two at the most,
depending on the number of Pokemon on your team. In addition, one or two of
your Pokemon may have a sort of personality, essentially being another
character of sorts.
When it
comes to the Pokemon, stick to the attacks they know and what can be taught
through TMs/HMs, and about 4 to 6 attacks can be listed, if you choose to list
them. If unsure about a ‘Mon’s moves, visit a Pokemon fansite or wiki such as
Serebii.net or Bulbapedia. There are many sources out there.
Lastly, have
fun with it! But start with a character profile first! Here’s a template!

IC:
The lights suddenly clicked on, flooding the entire area. The training facility was a place widely used over the years, but it was always kept in tip-top shape. It was the size of at least two and a half football fields, guaranteeing enough space for many people-- to train, course-- without getting in each others way.
A lone figure walked towards the indoor field, which featured many different kinds of landscapes from fields to deserts. Coming to a stop, they took out what looked like some kind of red and white ball, and pressed a button in the middle to enlarge it. Bring back their arm and tossing the ball forward, they bellowed loudly, "Alright then, come on out!"
(OOC Edit: Anyone can be this mysterious trainer!)
OOC: Alright. You've drawn me in. =P

Pokemon

- Scizor - X-Scissor, Night Slash, Aerial Ace, Metal Claw, Brick Break, Double Team
- Joltik - String Shot, Electro Web, Bug Bite
IC:
Gyser stood at the far side of the arena, turning his head towards the trainer, as their voice bellowed out across the area. He had come here hoping to find someone to help him train the newest member of his team. He and Scizor had been together for a while, and while they had worked well together so far, there was only so much the two of them could do together. So Gyser had travelled, and found another Pokémon that he beleived would make a great addition to his team. With a grin, he threw a Poké Ball foward and with a flash of white, the tiny bug Pokémon, Joltik, appeared. It gave a yawn, and a stretch, before it's eyes widen in fear and it dashed back towards Gyser, climbing his leg and dashing up under his shirt, shivering with fear. With a raised eye brow, Gyser could almost hear Scizor facepalming from within it's own Poké Ball...

IC:
In another side of the establishment, a young man sat upon a field of grass. His pokemon where around him, a Lucario at his back, a Glaceon to his side, and his Vulpix sleeping in his lap. He looked content, paying no mind to the two who had begun to battle nearby. He brushed his hand over the creature's reddish fur, drawing a yawn. The small vulpine animal looked up at him, almost curiously. He grinned, reaching into his satchel and produced three bluish cookie-like treats, handing one to all three of his assembled pokemon. All of them, save Lucario, ate the treats with gusto.
The dog-like pokemon stared at the cookie far a moment, before elbowing the man's back. The boy turned around, looking into the pokemon's eyes. "What's the matter, Sen?" he said with a slight bit of concern, "You don't like it?" The blue and white dog nodded in confirmation, handing the treat back. He took the cookie and placed it back within his pack, before turning once more to his pokemon and friend. "How come you never eat my cooking? The others seem to like it well enough..." he questioned, pouting, "It's no fair!" The pokemon leaned away, taking on an expression that both displayed confusion and bemusement.
ooc: yes, me!
Name: Hayrum Coppersmith
Nickname: Longhair
Age: 25
Affiliation: Trackers, calls himself a wanderer.
Hometown: Phenac City
Region: Orre
Personality: (Placeholder, I may change this as I RP this out) Brash and bold, Hayrum shows a respect for the strong bond between Trainers and their Pokemon. He's been traveling the world, helping out people and seeing how people and pokemon interact and live together.
Appearance: Athletic build, with long, wavy brown hair held back by a red bandana he has tied around his head. Blue eyes. Over the bandana is a pair of round goggles with polarized lenses. He wears a pair of jeans, black quarter boots, as well as a loose-fitting T-shirt. Will wear a black motorcycle jacket with gold stripes on the arms if it is cold.
Team:
Metang "Franky": Magnet Rise, Bullet Punch, Zen Headbutt, Meteor Mash, Iron Defense, Agility
Lampent "Mort" : Will O' Wisp, Flame Burst, Confuse Ray, Night Shade, Hex
Skarmory "Chuck": Steel Wing, Night Slash, Feint, Air Cutter, Autotomize, Sky Drop
Horsea "Magellan": Water Gun, Twister, Smokescreen, Bubble
IC: The figure stood on the far side of the arena. The Lampent at his side blinked as the tiny yellow spider ran up its trainer's shirt. The Lampent looked at the goggle-wearing trainer, who looked back at it. They both shrugged, and Hayrum called back over the field. "Are you sure he's OK to battle here?"
With an embarressed laugh and grin, Gyser called back "Just one moment!"
Reaching up under his shirt, he pulled the diminuitive bug Pokémon out and held him up to eye level. Shivering with fear, Joltik let out a tiny squeek. Gyser faux-pouted at him before sitting Joltik on his shoulder, and giving the Pokémon a scratch under the chin, which seemed to calm it slightly.
"So, no battle for you?"
"Tik!"
"Not even a quick one? I bet you'd do great."
"Joltik!"
"... Fine."
With a sigh, Gyser withdrew Joltik back to its Poké ball.
"Just my luck to get the one Joltik who's afraid of anything..." Gyser muttered under his breath. With another smooth arm movement, he threw forward another Poké Ball, from which Scizor emerged. With a few quick practice swipes at the air, Scizor settled down into a fighting stance.
"Ready now!" Gyser waved, realising he must look like the worst trainer in the world right now...
Hayrum smiled. "He shouldn't feel bad. Not all pokemon are born battlers. Now that you're ready..." The smile broke into a grin. "Mort! Get out there and show me a Will-o-wisp!" Dramatically, he waved his hand outward, like a commander directing his troops.
"Pent!" The Lampent swooped low, kicking up a dust cloud as it rose into the air, fixing its blank, yellow-eyed stare on the Scizor. Blue flames formed around it, multiplying into easily twenty blue fireballs which swirled down, seeming to descend like angry bees towards the large, red metallic insect!
(OOC: What have I gotten myself into...XD I still have to work on those movesets...)
Scizor tensed, and made a few short leaps backwards and side ways to avoid the balls of blue fire, dodging most of them, but stumbling slightly as several of them made contact and forced the bug to it's knees.
"Scizor!" Gyser cried out. "Night Slash!"
"Sciz!" Scizor jumped back to it's feet, and dashed towards Lampet, it's movements fast, and it's claws surrounded by a dark energy.
Hayrum watched as the ones that stuck literally stuck, sitting there and just -burning-. "Wait for it..." Lampent tensed up. "Wait for it..." It was sitting there, and the Scizor was almost on it! "Wait fo....NOW! Flame Burst!"
As the Scizor's night-clad claw came in for the hit, Lampent's inner blue flare burned brightly and seemed to phase through the glasslike part of its body; slowly at first, then faster, as it launched a fireball at nearly point-blank range before getting knocked spinning towards the ground! "Mort! You still in there?" A blue, albeit slightly weaker, flame flared up inside the Lampent as it struggled up off the ground before beginning a shaky hover as it recovered its composure from the strike.

IC:
Off to the side of the battle at a safe distance sat a black haired girl, watching the battle with an expressionless face. Her name was Sarah, although she often wound up being called Sammo - a portmanteau of her first and last names. It didn't look like she was taking much of an interest in the battle right now, preoccupied as she was with the cell phone she had to her ear. Hence, she wasn't really especially noticeable at the moment - a thing she seemed to have a talent for, and which had lead to her also being called "Invisible Sarah" at times, as she had a knack for going unnoticed for several minutes.
"Two of them are battling right now..." she said quietly, in disinterested sounding tones to the phone. "No, nothing yet. I'm working on that."
She glanced between the battling trainers, at their pokémon and then at the two trainers themselves, briefly. "I'm sure I'd recognise them on sight. They stand out a bit. Although I suppose you would know plenty about that." she smirked slightly to herself before continuing. "I'll let you know when I learn more." With that, she ended the call and tucked her phone away safely, continuing to watch the battle unfolding before her.
Scizor was blown backwards by the impact of the Flame Burst, skidding along the ground with it's claws brought up in front of its face as a protective shield. Scizor tried to shake it off, but the Will-o-Wisp from earlier was really taking a toll.
"Scizor! Are you ok to keep going?" Gyser called out. He already knew the answer.
"Sciz!" Scizor nodded, fixing it's eyes on Lampent.
"Alright you stubboron sunnofa- Aerial Ace!"
Scizor lept wordlessly into the air, and with a quick flap of it's metal wings, descended with great speed towards Lampent.
(OOC: Still working on Movesets. Will edit my first post when I get them done. For now, I better enter.)
IC:
To the side of the battle sat a pale-skinned girl, silently watching the battle. Her white hair fell in a shower around her as it was divided into six separate ponytails. She held a parasol to block the sun from hitting her face, and a closer look at said face would reveal the reason. She was albino, and therefore needed to shield herself from the sun. Her pinkish-red eyes, though somewhat unsettling, held a gentle expression. An abra sat beside her.
TBC
(OOC: Somewhat awkward intro, I know. Bare with me, please. XD; )
Hayrum grunted as the Scizor went into a power dive, sending Lampent reeling! "Mort! Say something!" "p-Pennnnnnt..." The Lampent righted itself and turned around. [Hrm...Scizor seems to rely solely on his speed...] "Mort! Confuse Ray!"
The Lampent, definetly feeling the Night Slash and Aerial Ace together, glared hard at the Scizor...and a purple light shone from its eyes. Lights of all sorts of colors began dancing all around the area, swirling faster and faster, closing in on the Scizor!

Weedy:
An oddish captured on her travels who is rather... well, to put it bluntly, he's useless. A small gust of wind knocks him over. On the other hand he does gather vegatables well. Knows: Rest
IC:
As Sammo continued her observation, the was a sudden, presence behind her, followed by a loud bang. Turning to investigate she was greeted by the view of an almost manically grinning young lady, chewing on a wad of neon pink gum, fixated on the fight.
"This is so, so totally boss, don't you think? I love watching other people battle, of course I love battling as well! Do you like battling, or do you just watch? I mean, just watching is pretty schway and all but it's nice to get involved sometimes, except when you loose, then it kind of sucks. But you always learn something and you get better so that's pretty Boss as well and I'm Jenna, HI!"
Before Sammo could even get a word in edgeways, the girl in the hat carried on regardless. "Man, I hope Scyther wins, Scythers are so totally boss! I mean Lampents are pretty cool and all, but they are a bit creepy and weird. But Scythers are like big praying mantis thingies and are cool and green. And the way the zip around like WOOSH WOOSH slash slash rar!!" Jenna shouted, with accompanying motions. "Do you like Scythers, man, I bet everybody likes Scythers, who dosn't?"
This continued for quite some time.
((OOC:I'd best stock up on sugary sweets =V))
"You don't mind company, do you?"
The parasol girl looked up slightly to see another bespectacled girl with a dark complexion settling down next to her, taking her pack off her back and sitting it to the side. A Quilava was eyeing her curiously, as though it had never seen anyone like her before. The bespectacled girl seemed to notice this quickly and chided it. "Arashi! It's impolite to stare!"
"Qui!" Its attention snapped back to her, crimson eyes showing concern.
"Sorry about him," the glasses-wearing girl said to the other trainer with the Abra, "Once he sees a new person, he just stares." Her head cocked to the side slightly. "Don't think I've seen you around before, but then again, half the members of the Trackers never see each other, anyway. I'm Shion. What's your name?"
"Sciz!"
Scizor clenched its eyes tightly as the colours surrounded it, trying to fight off the effects of the Confuse Ray. Gyser swore under his breath, racking his brain to think of a way out of this.
"Scizor! Double Team!" He cried out.
"Scizor!"
Suddenly, multiple Scizors surrounded Lampent. One real, many illusions. Gyser knew he had to make the next attack count, or Scizor would be down for the count...
The boy retrieved one of the treats from his satchel and brought it up to where the pokemon could see it. "What don't you like about my cooking?" he asked, before shoving the treat into his own mouth. The Lucario simply stared at him for a while before raising a paw to its forehead ad shaking it slightly and sighing. The young man then stopped in mid chew. "I suppose they are a bit spicy, huh... But you liked those tacos that mom used to make." He contemplated all of this for a moment before unexpectedly hugging his Lucario. "You guys are my best friends, you know that, Sen?" The Lucario known as Sen sweat-dropped at the sudden display of affection. "If only you three could talk... But who am I kidding. That will probably never happen, huh... We'll be forever stuck dealing with those who are worth less than us." The boy frowned, hugging the pokemon tighter. "At least I have you three."
With this statement, his Glaceon gave a slight mewl, asking for more food. The boy produced another treat and offered it to the blue fox-like pokemon. "Here you go, Stygia. Eat up."
Hayrum smiled as the air was suddenly full of Scizor. "Double Team, eh? Illusions are a good gamble...Mort! Let's play with some illusions of our own! Night Shade!" Hayrum lowered his goggles; Night Shade was a pretty spectacular light show even if the illusions didn't work.
The flame in the Lampent's body changed colors as an eerie green light filled the arena. Eyes glowing red, the flame within erupted, causing the entire pokemon to glow green for a moment as green frireballs erupted from its body, each changing into a fearsome visage of things it knew a Pokemon like Scizor might fear: One fireball, for example, became a twisted, spectral visage of a Charizard, jaws open, another became a nightmarish, charging Flareon's ghost, engulfed in flames, still another a horrific-looking Magmar, ghostly hands ablaze with a Fire Punch that was never really there!
Even as the Lampent was letting this fiery display go on, Hayrum was watching the ground ahead, appearing not to be watching the fight. [Now then...which of these has a shadow...] If the Night Shade failed to hit, knowing which one was real might make all the difference in helping his Lampent make it past one more hit...
Sarah raised an eyebrow at the energetic girl verbally assaulting her. She looked from Jenna to the battle and back again.
"It's a Scizor." she said flatly.
Jenna paused, masticating away at her gum "deep" in thought. For a few, brief moments there was silence.
"Nu uh. No way. I'm a pokéace, I totally know these things. It's okay to make mistakes though, you see, that's just what we call a Shiny pokémon, so it's a little different from your regular Syther is all. That Lampent is being all scary though, is that guy allowed to send out more than one pokémon at once? I think he's totally cheating, we should go down there and kick his bum!"
Sarah sighed and shook her head, and then spoke slowly as though to a child.
"It's Scizor. Bug-Steel type. The additional pokémon are illusory copies - that is the move Double Team, and the move Night Shade, respectively, causing these effects." she tilted her head slightly, her face neutral and expressionless. "Of course, you knew this and were simply making for humour, weren't you." she stated.
"Oh sure I totally new that, I was just messing with you!" Jenna replied, not missing a beat. "I know all about double shading and night scissors and all the top strategies and moves, cause I'm just boss like that."
A pause of blessed silence erupted as Jenna raised an eyebrow looking at Sarah quizically.
"Heeeeey, how come you are all so -_____- since I started talking to you? It's like you don't have any other expressions and Oh MY GOD! You're a Ditto aintcha! C'mon, you can level with me. Dittos are awesome, they are like a big wad of chewing gum. Are you cherry flavoured? Man, that would be so Boss!"
And then she poked Sarah in the face.
Sarah continued to look at Jenna blankly as she was poked, although one of her eyebrows curved downward slightly in a frown.
"I am not." she replied. "Please don't touch me like that." She added.
"You mean you're not a ditto? Awww, that would be so Boss, I mean a ditto who could talk and look like a person could totally rule the world. Do you reckon there are any out there? Maybe half the world are already ditto people. I mean I know I'm not, and you said you ain't so I trust you but everybody else could be! It's just you and me against the world mopeyface not-ditto girl!" Jenna exclaimed, wrapping an arm round Sarah's shoulder and posing triumphantly. The battle below apparently forgotten amongst whatever passed for thoughts in her head.
The black-haired girl pushed her sunglasses back up her nose a bit in irritation.
"Your theory has more holes than Emmental." she replied, calmly extracting herself from the other girl's grip. Still, it was a comfort to her that the average standard of competence among the assembled trainers she had witnessed thus far was sitting somewhere between "reasonable" and "clueless".
The Charizard illusion collided with one of the Double Team images, causing both to dissapear in a wiff of smoke. The Flareon and Magmar illusions followed suit, leaving only two Scizors circling Lampent.
"Scizor! Rock it hard with one more Night Slash!" Gyser called out.
"Sciiiiiiizooooor!"
The two Scizors dashed in, one from the front and one from the back, both with claws raised, and both with winning in their eyes.
(OOC: Bare with me (again) trying to think of a better name for the Abra than Ace (my original choice) and still have to get those movesets...)
Hayrum raised his eyebrows as he saw a flicker of light on the ground. [The one closest to me doesn't have a shadow...]
"Mort! Flame burst the one behind you and move into the one in front!"
Spinning around so that it faced Hayrum, the Lampent unleashed another fireball, using the kickback to propel itself into the Scizor that was formerly ahead of it!
Lampent crashed through the Scizor illusion, as the fireball exploded into the real bug Pokémon, sending it sprawling backwards and to a laying position. In what should be an impossible feat, Scizor leapt straight back up and dropped back into a fighting stance. Before anything more could happen though, Scizor dropped to its knees, and followed that up by completely hitting the ground.
With not a word, Gyser withdrew Scizor back to it's Poké Ball, and then immediately sent it out in front of him. Dropping to his knees, Gyser applied a potion to the injured bug Pokémon, which gave a weak "Sciz." in thanks.
"It's all right man. You did your best. Stupid fire types."
Withdrawing Scizor again, Gyser stood and nodded to his opponent.
"Good match."
(OOC: Ok...movesets are done, I can now play! Still not sure the Abra's name is very good, but...I couldn't think of anything better. Oh well.)
IC:
Instead of the trainer replying to the question, the abra beside her did. "I am Tace. Her name's Silence Riker." At the surprised look from the other trainer, he added, "She can't speak, so I am her voice." He again looked to his trainer, as if for encouragement. Silence smiled and nodded, and then also smiled at the other trainer.
TBC
(Blah. Coulda been better. Oh well.)
Hayrum nodded back. "Good battle to you as well. Double Team's a good one. If I'd been a hair slower on the uptake Mort'd be the one eating dirt. The trick with Double Team is to do it in the shade or in a darkened area...gets far less effective in broad daylight or brightly-lit areas." He held up a green-and-orange ball, which shot a purple-black beam, recalling the Lampent into its Dusk Ball, which he clipped onto a holder on his belt. "C'mon back Mort, you've earned a rest." He gave a slight bow, then spun on one heel and walked towards the healing area of the arena.
(OOC: I'm not worried. I'm pretty terrible when it comes to coming up with names anyway. XD )
"Ah, okay." Shion recovered quickly from the initial shock. "Nice to meet you two."
Her attention suddenly shifted to the battle between the other two trainers, which just concluded as Hayrum's Lampent emerged victorious. "Dangit! Missed it again! Why am I always missing the end of battles? Still, those two are a couple of pretty strong trainers, eh?" She suddenly stood, looking about the field at the other trainers, who were either sitting with their companions or otherwise alone.
Silence gave her a curious look, which the Abra translated, "What seems to be the matter?"
"I'm wondering who I should challenge to a battle," Shion answered, adjusting her frames. "Even though I'm a Tracker, I'm a Pokemon Trainer first."
"Qui!" The Quilava sat on his hindquarters with a determined look, the spots on his head and rump spouting flames.
"Seems like you're 'fired up,' aren't you, Arashi?"
"Qui-ii!"

"... She hasn't reported back yet."
The Elite* flipped his cell phone closed and placed it back in his pocket. The day was starting to drag.
This Elite was a young man in his early twenties named Harold Smith. Clad in a long black coat with a gray dress shirt, black pants and shoes, he walked down the first floor corridor with a teenage youth of about seventeen wearing a similar outfit, except with a newsboy hat and sneakers. In his left hand he held a suitcase that almost looked to heavy for him to carry.
"So we're still not sending them in yet?" the youth asked, clearly disappointed. "Seriously, we coulda just hacked them. Then our problems will be solved. Sammo didn't have to go in for this."
"We need information," Harold told him. "And hacking can only get us but so far. Besides, this is best suited for someone like 'Invisible Sarah.' It's better to have an actual firsthand account of what these 'Trackers' are really capable of."
"So..." The teenager started picking his nose impatiently.
"We will give her a bit more time. If she doesn't report back, or if she is discovered, we will have to take the necessary measures to retrieve her, that is all."

-Trackers' Facilities, Training Field-
"... Eenie, meanie, minie, moe."
Shion's finger pointed right at the boy sitting in the middle of the field with a Lucario. Normally, she would have preferred to sit back and relax, put missing the end of that last battle had put in her in a battling kind of mood.He seemed content enough, but what were his strengths, she thought.
She looked down at Arashi; she could feel that whatever she was thinking, he was thinking the same thing. "Doesn't exactly look like a pushover; you up for some exercise?"
"Quii!"

-Trackers' Facilites, Pokemon Center-
"Welcome!"
The nurse who worked at the sick bay greeted Hayrum with a sunny look and a smile as she bowed behind the counter from which she stood. She, like every other nurse who worked at these centers, however big or small they were, shared the name Joy. Her assistants, an Audino, two Chansey and a Blissey, all walked about pushing small carts with either various spray-time medicines or small examination instruments.
A Happiny, which seemed to be this Center's "mascot" of sorts, pushed around a much smaller cart with a set of children's plastic keys sitting on top. It passed by a couple of girls, who commented about how cute it was imitating the assistants, before bumping into Hayrum's leg.
Joy giggled lightly at the sight before her bright blue eyes focused on the young man. "It's nice to see you again, Hayrum. I take it you want to use the machine to rest your Pokemon?"
Travis smiled as he sat amongst his friends, the pokemon. The Vulpix upon his lap twitched a bit as it awoke to the sound of the approaching girl. It jumped off of his lap and hid behind him. Travis, himself, stared her down with a look that could kill. He didn't look angry, if anything, he looked annoyed. "Can I help you?" he asked with a tone that said more to get away from him than any offer of aide. Sen stood at his side, glancing up at his partner and then to the other trainer, however, it made no motion to say or do anything. It just stood there with a calm expression, as if gauging the newcomer. "Well...? Speak up."
Shion blinked, seemingly unfazed at the boy's annoyed look. "Hey, I'm Shion from Cherrygrove City in Johto. I just would like to know," she started, "If you would like to have a battle with me. Just a quick one, one Pokemon each." She straightened her cap slightly. "Of course, if you don't want to, that's fine."
Arashi moved forward slightly, surveying the Lucario with a curious look. When it looked back at him, his ear twitched, and he barked.
Shion knelt down next to the Quilava and stroked his head, which seemed to have a calming effect on him. "If you do, my partner and I will be sure to give it everything we've got." She smiled at the boy, who still wore that annoyed expression on his face.
Either she was oblivious to his sour mood or simply chose to ignore it; it was hard to tell.
Hayrum nodded. "Yes, please. Mort took quite the thrashing out there today." Setting his pokeballs on the tray, he knelt down, patting the Happiny on the head. Noting the keys had fallen off the cart, he picked them up and, smiling, set them back down on the cart. "Heh. Careful, now." As the nurse set the machine to its task, he walked over and examined the pokemon treat vending machines. Reaching into one of his pockets, he pulled out a few coins and, inserting them, pressed a series of keys. A small pellet resembling a gummy candy popped out, a special treat made for Ghost-types. "There we go."
"And here you go!" The nurse, smiling, handed back his tray with the balls on it.
"Ah, thanks, Joy!" Clipping on a PokeBall, a Heavy Ball and a Great Ball onto the holders on his belt, he opened the Dusk Ball and handed his Lampent the small treat. "There you go. For a job well done." He usually treated his Pokemon to treats on a win with a congratulatory word; should they lose, the treat was followed with a "better luck next time" sort of thing." The Lampent happily munched on the candylike treat.
"So, how was the battle?"
The nurse, with not much else to do at the moment, was leaning on the counter.
"That Gyser fellow's good. The battle was down to who got the last hit in."
"Mmm." She chuckled.
"What?"
"Nothing. Just...you and Happy there. You sure you never considered working in a Center?"
He chuckled now. "No...too confining. I gotta have my wandering space."
The boy was silent, continuing to stare at the girl with an unwavering expression of hostility. However, his Lucario stepped forward, looking back at him. "So you actually want to fight them, do you, Sen?" the boy sighed and nodded, "Alright. We'll battle with you, but don't expect either of us to go easy on you." He moved back, to a favorable position, while Sen did a few warm up stretches before striking a fighting pose. "Any time you're ready."
Shion stepped back as well, an unmistakeable smirk on her face. "If you're just saying that because I'm a girl, then I assure you that I'm not weak."
Her Quilava stood his ground, flames erupting from his head and haunches. He was definitely ready to start.
The young woman adjusted her glasses, guaging the Lucario. Fighting type, eh? This ought to be interesting.
"Arashi! Let's start things off with Quick Attack!"
========
"That's too bad," Joy said, looking slightly disappointed. "The Pokemon really enjoy it when you visit."
The Happiny had regained its previously sunny disposition and resumed pushing its cart around the Center once more.
The nurse smiled as she looked on, then turned to Hayrum and straightened her posture. "Well, I shouldn't keep you. Be sure to stop by again, should your Pokemon need rest."

OOC: More character interaction is needed, guys. Hop to it!
Sen caught Arashi in the middle of the attack, grunting from the strain. Lifting the flaming pokemon off of the ground, he slammed the small creature into the dirt and kicked off of it, back-flipping out of harms way. "Sen, keep some distance between you and the enemy." stated the boy, calmly, "You seem far to sure of yourself. You're overconfidence will not only be your downfall, but that of your pokemon as well." Sen took a moment to look back at the boy, the gaze being returned with a warm smile.
Following the conclusion of the last battle, and then upon noting the other girl walking determinedly toward the boy in the middle of the field, Sarah had wasted no time in getting to her feet and following Shion, offering only a brief "Pardon me" to Jenna. She kept herself at a distance, of course - she wanted to gauge the abilities of these people as trainers, and it would help if she could do so without drawing too much attention to herself.
As the battle began, she seated herself off to one side as she had for the last battle she'd spectated on. A Quilava against a Lucario... she wasn't sure which of the two was the more experienced at this stage, but she knew their types well enough. From a purely tactical standpoint, the boy was at a disadvantage - his pokémon was a Fight-Steel type, which in this case meant a weakness to fire. Shion's partner, by comparison, not only had no weaknesses to Lucario's two types (at the very best, it would take only normal damage from Fighting type moves), but it was also of a type Lucario was weak to. Sarah was well aware what this meant in terms of attack output: certain fire-type moves, when executed by the Quilava, would gain an additional bit of power to them thanks to what a lot of trainers called STAB for short: Same Type Attack Bonus. She'd heard about it a while ago and since made it her business to read up on it.
Which means, she mused to herself, that either that Lucario has a trick or two up its sleeve... or that its trainer is the overconfident one. Either way, it promised to be an interesting match - and more importantly, it would be an excellent means to gauge the mettle of the two trainers and their partners.
Hayrum waved as he headed out. "Will do. See you around, I'm heading up for the viewing area."
Recalling the Lampent, Hayrum headed up towards the spectators' side of the arena. While seeing how a trainer battles firsthand is one valuable way to see how they and their pokemon work together, watching as a spectator provided a wealth of information in that regard as well.
Shion simply adjusted her frames again. Her smirk had long since faded, replaced by a more serious expression. Ahead of her, Arashi righted himself, crimson eyes looking towards her.
The girl smiled at the fire Pokemon before shifting her attention to the boy. "We're just getting started," she said, her voice carrying a hint of anticipation. "I can't wait to see what your Lucario's capable of; looks like you've raised it very well."
It was no attempt at flattery; she always complemented her opponents, no matter what they thought of it.
In the back of her mind, however, she knew she had to be careful. She expected her attack would be stopped, normal attacks wouldn't deal much damage, anyway; Arashi had already taken a hit. Thankfully, he hadn't been slammed with much force, as it was only a defensive maneuver.
Sen braced himself, calming his mind and clearing his thoughts. His focus was now solely on Arashi. He seemed far more level headed than before. Standing there, the Lucario watched his opponents every move, while the boy did the same to his own. His eyes never wavered from the girl that he was battling, no hint of distraction in his eyes. The two seemed as one, yet separate at the same time. The boy and his Lucario were in perfect harmony, neither one getting in the others way.
After his battle, Gyser had moved to the side. Scizor hated Pokémon Centres, and refused to go to one unless it was absolutely nessecary, so going there was out of the question. The green haired trainer remembered the last time he had tried to take his stubborn friend to a Pokémon Center and ended up with a very short hair cut. Grimacing at the though, Gyser let Scizor rest and called Joltik out of it's Poké Ball instead. Before the tiny Pokémon had even fully materialised, it was already scurrying towards Gyser and climbing up under his shirt.
"It's ok little one. It's not a battle this time." Gyser spoke, trying to calm Joltik down.
With a small squeek, the bug Pokémon moved out to sit on Gysers shoulder.
"We're just watching some battles now. Want to see how these guys go."
(OOC: Still here...somewhat uninspired at the moment *shrug*)
(OOC: This post is the start of a build-up kind of thing, I'll be editing it as I go along unless someone else posts first. I'm surprised to even have this many participants, but sadly, we're lacking in Metamorphosis characters. Therefore, if you want, you can create another character. You don't necessarily have to post a profile unless you want to. They don't have to be a trainer if you don't want them to be, but a villain kind of character would be nice if you have a "hero" trainer. Send me a PM in advance, though, because I've yet to really get the other side "launched." If you would like to build upon what I've done so far for the villains, which isn't much, send a PM. I can tell you some of what's in my head which may or may not see written form. Just a heads up, though, I may not be able to respond right away, so sorry in advance if you check your inbox expecting a reply!
This IC is going to to be really really short. =_=; )
IC:
Arashi dug his feet in the ground, ready to strike the moment his trainer gave the command.
Shion, ever one to keep adjusting her glasses, a sign that she was really enjoying herself at the moment--or she was nervous, it was hard to tell-- finally said something after a few moments of silence.
"Arashi! Smokescreen!"
Flames shooting from his body again, the Quilava opened his mouth and unleashed thick black fumes, covering the field around the two Pokemon. Shion had to back away a few more steps; she really hated telling her partner to use that move, it often made her cough.
She wondered however, if the opponent was used to conditions like this; if so, she'd have to be the quicker one to strike.

-Meanwhile, outside the "Tracker" Training Center-
"So, did you get the records yet?"
"Not yet, Smith. These codes are tough to crack."
"Yet another front that's probably gonna end up as a no-go."
"Whatever. We've got someone else getting firsthand dirt on their strongest. Even if I fail, you still get what you want."
"Ever the slacker, Tribel. I still have no idea why the higher-ups chose you for this job."
"I don't care. Bye bye~!" *Click*
The young woman slipped her headphones off and ran a hand through her crimson hair. "Damn Elite. Think he can push me around." She, too, was also clad in a long black coat, although she choose to wear a black tube top underneath with style pants along with almost knee-high boots. In front of her was a laptop, on which she was furiously typing away. "I'll be breakin' through this thing when I break through it! What's so hard about that to understand?"
Her blue eyes looked towards the sky; the sun was starting to sink into the horizon. "Ugh, if I don't hurry up, it'll be dark..." She reached into a small bag and pulled out a Pokeball. Tossing it, she said, "Come out, Yasha, I need some company."
The ball opened, and materializing in the flash of light that followed was a Mightyena. It yawned and sat down next to Tribel, who stroked his fur lovingly. "You don't mind sitting here with me, do you?" she asked. "I'm bored."
Yasha simply sniffed loudly and licked her hand. Tribel smiled, and re-focused on her work.
The boy didn't move from his spot, simply closing his eyes as the smoke overtook him. Sen rushed into the smoke, leaping into the air just above Arashi. It was almost as if he moved in slow motion as he launched an aura sphere directly down at the unsuspecting pokemon, before coming out the other side of the smoke and standing before Shion. He turned around, bracing himself for combat once more as he examined the damage and length of the cloud of smoke.
The impact was almost deafening. Dust and debris mixed with the smoke. The girl shielded her eyes, calling out her Pokemon's name. Arashi, obviously hit by the powerful attack, was sent flying from the smoke cloud right in her direction, landed hard just a few feet ahead of her. It took a few moments for him to get back on his feet.
"Arashi! You okay?" Shion asked, concerned for her partner.
"Qui!"
The girl looked uncertain, but seeing that the Quilava was far from giving up, she gave her next command. "Flame Charge!"
The spots on the Quilava erupted in flame again, burning more brightly than before. He dashed towards Sen once more, this time cloaking his entire body in fire. Although the Lucario was bracing himself, Arashi struck him head-on, the impact causing another explosion of dust!
The boy stepped forth from the smoke, seeing that the Quilava was still fighting, he raised an eyebrow, but otherwise seemed unfazed. "You've trained your pokemon better than I had at first perceived. But don't think that simply using type advantages is going to win this for you." Sen dug into the dirt, pushing against the charge, but feeling the heat against his fur. In a single defensive more, he pushed the flaming hedgehog away and let out a roar, causing a wave of sheer force to project from himself, launching the other pokemon away from him and blowing away a large portion of the smog. He had been hit hard, but he was still in the fight. The Lucario shook away the daze and resumed his fighting pose.
The boy's gaze was once more transfixed on the girl, as if waiting for her to give out another command. He himself had not said a word to his pokemon during this whole battle, however.
