Personal Diary of Doctor William Tyler, Biochemist: Extracts
Date of Last Entry: February 16, 2048.
My reserch has reached new hights, and my theoreys are being proven one after another! This is a momentus time for me and my team! Finally our dreams are being realised far above and beond what I could ever have imagined! And to think, it all started so small! The Government has agreed to our proposal and have granted us funding...
...baised on the theory that everyone, no matter who they are, has a special power inside them, an "inner hero" as it where, that we as yet are unable to access naturally. These heroes would have special powers, simillar to heroes in comic books (indeed, it is my belief that it is this innate nature that causes the Human mind to imagine such fantesies)...
...and these powers, unique to each individual, could be used to fight crime, to end war. That is our goal: To make the heroes in comic books a reality! Through our reserch, we have found a way to unlock these powers...
I have become concerned about the Government's egarness to speed up the project. Naturally as a scientist I wish to see the outcome as much as anyone, but their pushing is beginning to make me think...
...have uncovered their real plans! In complete violation of...not to fight crime...army of super soldiers...
Doctor William Tyler, Government Scientist, Deceased, File Closed.
Cause of Death: Heart Attack.
Metropolis City, July 5, 2048.
Duke Slater manuvered his car down the ramp and into the parking lot, looking around for a space. He was a tall man, about 6"4', with shoulder length brown hair and hazel eyes. His face was somewhat thin, but his body looked muscular and strong.
He wore blue jeans and a short brown leather jacket over a white shirt. As he parked his car and got out, he reached over to the passenger seat and picked up a small sports bag.
He wasn't a hero or anything, but he was renound throughout Metropolis as one of the city's fastest runners! He had been training hard for almost all of his 24 years, and had his eyes set on the Olympics some day! That's why he was here now, in the basement parking lot of the local running track. It was time for another training session.
He set off across the car lot towards the stairs, on the way passing a large black car with tinted windows. His ears pricked up as he heard a car door open, then suddenly a voice called his name! He looked around.
Three men had got out of the car, two in black suits and shades, the other in a long leather trench coat and black jeans. Beneath the trench coat he wore a black t-shirt, and his hands were covered by black gloves. His hair was short, slicked back to his head, and he wore a neatly trimmed goatee on his chin.
"Mister Slater?" he repeated in a deep, commanding voice.
"Yeah." replied Slater, eyeing the men carefully. Something wasn't right here. "Can I help you?"
The other man nodded. "My name is Brian Duke." he replied. "I'm sorry for the situation of this meeting, but it couldn't be helped. We must work in secret."
Slater was about to say something, but before he could Mr Duke continued. "We're here because we need your help. We're from the Government, and we need the help of athletes like yourself in some experiments we're running...off the board, if you get me."
"Experiments...as in lab rats?" muttered Slater. "You gotta be kidding."
Duke shook his head. "We're deadly serious Mister Slater. We need your help, and we'll reward you hansomly for your troubles."
Slater began to grin in disbelief. "Wait a minute, you meet up with me here, give me a load of spiel about Government experiments and stuff, and expect me to just sign up with you or something???"
"Yes." Duke nodded.
"I don't even know you or anything! You guys are crazy!" Slater shook his head. "No way. I'm not agreeing to anything."
"There's one problem Mister Slater...you don't have a choice."
Slater jumped as a traquilizer dart jabbed into his neck, fired by one of the men in the suits! Suddenly his mind screamed at him to run, to get out of there, but even as he tried his legs collapsed under him! The drug was fast acting!
His last memory was of the two men in suits bending over and picking him up, as blackness engulfed his thoughts...
RULES:
This RP is set in the generic western city of Metropolis. Start off with a normal Human character starting a normal day, but then they get a strainge visit from Mister Duke.
What Duke said about them looking for athletic people was just to make it more believeable to Slater. Your character doesn't have to be an athlete. In fact, try to make characters from all ages, all backgrounds, to make the story more interesting.
Characters start of Human, but will soon change into things completely different. What you change into (Humanoid, Furry, Monster, etc) is completely up to you
No powerplaying/godmodding.
Post your character intro first, then when enough have joined, I'll continue the story.
BANG!
The last can fell off the fence. Tabitha "Balio" Steele smiled as she took the practice gun from her face. The attendant nearby nodded approvingly. "Another fine shot, Lady Balio!"
Balio handed the gun to the attendant. "Thank you. That's all for today."
The attendant followed Balio to the gun rack, and carefully put it up. "Are you sure you don't want to take a hand gun, at least a Derringer, with you?"
Balio shook her head, and headed for the door. "No, thanks. I don't want people to think I'm paranoid. Who would mess with the daughter of the Steele family?"
The attendant didn't answer that, and simply gave a polite, "have a good evening."
Balio left the practice range, and took her favorite shortcut through a small forest, heading up the hill to her families' house. It was more of a mansion, really. The Steele family was one of the wealthier ones in Metropolis. But Balio always thought of it as her house, nothing special. The 16-year old stopped in surprise, upon seeing a large black car with tinted windows parked nearby! She watched as two suits and a third man exited the car, and faced her. "Ehh...did you know you're tresspassing?"
The man in the coat nodded. "Yes, but this is urgent business, and we need your help, Tabitha Steele."
She put her hands on her hips, and spoke commandingly up at him, "My street name's Balio. You want to talk to me, call me Balio!"
"...Balio, we need your help. My name is Brian Duke, and I'm with the government."
"I'm listening..."
"We are aware that one of the greatest problems with schooling systems today is that they don't listen to what the students want. A leader in your class, such as yourself, knows a lot about how others feel. I've been sent to ask you to come with me, to answer some questions about what can be improved, and also to let you make suggestions you've heard other students say."
Balio shrugged. "Eh, maybe tomorrow...today's my day off."
"We insist that you come with us today."
Balio barely had time to realize what had happened, as a tranquillizer dart was in her neck!
OOC EDIT: *sigh* I know, I know...I didn't put in a real description of my char again...I plan to do it in my next post. I couldn't be bothered to try to describe a new char right then, so I'll work on it later.
