I always thought the US story was better simply because it was more exciting. If his past is a mystery you just have to keep guessing as to what his past is all about and the fact you'll never know is pretty fustrating for me.
There's more characters as well, so I think that makes it much more better to read as you can make loads of story lines out of it.

they went complete overkill on echidna characters though, they're supposed to be an extict species!

I'm going with STC, mainly because the history's too damn complicated for me to keep straight in Archie. Every echidna seems related in some way to Knuckles and it make my brain hurt.

My thoughts exactly. There must be some serious incest going on in his family if you ask me, or maybe they just have an overactive sex life and don't use any birth control.

Then again, animals probably don't worry about incest the way we do.

I prefer the UK history. The Sonic Adventure adaptation gave some clues to Knuckles' past, but it stayed true to the original idea of him being from the past.

And furthermore, they make the job of Guardian tough. In Archie, M25YL, his spoilt brat of a daughter does nothing but wail "I wanna be a guardian!" like it's babysitting or taking care of the family pet, when it really means you have to live alone most of your life.

Still, it puts a morbid spin on The Graveyard. He claims in that story he didn't kill the Koyenhu and gets spared; and in SA, we find him... hunting and killing Koyenhu.

I suppose he didn't have any recollection of the past killing koyenhu because of his past memory being wiped, so I guess even he believed he was telling the truth. A true morbid spin, as you said.

Anyway, if I wanted to see Knuckles life go down the way of a soap opera, I'd prefer Archie. I don't. Hence, I prefer StC.

You stay true to your signature.
But I kinda agree with the incest thing- isn't Julie-Su Knux's cousin or something?

They are fourth cousins twelve times removed.

Really. And that's not some random term I came up with, that's really how they're related.

For those unfamiliar with the lingo, that means they are very distantly related. If you want me to explain, I shall, but I have a feeling you'd rather I didn't.

In which case, the family stays in real close contact to be able to know relationships like that. I think a second cousin is your parent's cousin's child. I can't remember what 'removed' means. It may well involve in-laws though.

In-laws have nothing to do with it. "removed" means that Knuckles is actually twelve generations away from Julie-Su, because of a wacky time-warp situation. Julie Su's Great Great Great Grandfather was Knuckles's Great Great Great Great Great Great Great Great Great Great Great Great Great Great Great Grandfather.

The reason they know each other isn't because they're a close-knit family. Knux's and Julie-Su's common ancestor had two sons, Edmund and Dimitri. Edmund's and Dimitri's descendants became the Guardians and the Dark Legion, respectively. The two groups were enemies, and Knuckles and Julie-Su were on opposing sides.

Yes, but Echindas are cool. Therefore, it is better that there are more of them.:razz

Mystery... yeay, whatever. I would rather have a deep, complicated plot than a cop-out, thank you.

Though I've only read so many of the U.K. comics... hmmm... well, we won the Revolutionary War, SO THERE!!

Thats the strange thing, Fleetway never copped out.
They said from the start, "KNuckles IS the last Echidna" and spent all his time racing about trying to find out what happened to him and restore the MAster Emerald.
Just because we never found out what happened to him, we had dozens of exciting adventures, some tantalising clues and a BRILLIANT mix of support characters who never seemed forces and never interfered with the real plot, Knuckles' personal story.

The question, do you prefer Indiana Jones or Eastenders (okay, I guess the Americans wont know what Eastenders is) but it's like comparing two COMPLETELY different types of story.
Everyone prefers one to the other, but you cant compare them.

cool Aztec-type Echidna warrior, i personly prefer a complex story line, that why i like Shilent Hill. Do u think the game and possibly the cartoon follow the ancient aztec-type theme? i just thought that you see him in the game and cartoon in hanging around an aztec building and beside if they gave him the coplex story line he will seem more to be the main charater than Sonic in my opinion. got to say the archie comix seem really cool.
