The Sonic adventure continues with Sonic Advance 3 where gamers experience ever-changing game play by teaming up with other Sonic characters in a quest to defeat the evil Dr. Eggman.

The game is scheduled to be released this Spring on the GBA. Until then, you can view 20 new screenshots just released by THQ at Gaming Chart.

    SEGA under new management

    Sammy has finally done it.

Sega revealed today a reshuffling of its upper management that includes a few ousted directors and a brand new chairman. Taking the role of chairman and representative director of the company as of Feburary 17 is Hideki Satomi, president of Sammy. Current chairman Hideki Sato will now hold the position of vice chairman and director. Hisao Oguchi remains the president and representative director.

Hideki Satomi founded Sammy in 1975 and became its CEO in 1980. Following Sammy's purchase of 22.4% of Sega from CSK in December of 2003, Sammy became the largest shareholder in the company, with Satomi becoming a special advisor.

In addition to Satomi's appointment, a couple of changes were made to the Sega board. Two board directors, Masahiro Aozono and Makoto Kaneshiro, both connected with the CSK side of Sega's investment partners, resigned as of February 16. Meanwhile, Sammy's Yoshiharu Suzuki became a board director.

What does this mean for Sega's fortunes in the game business? We'll have to wait and see.

    Sonic Eraser

I bet you all think I'm here to post some SatAM news, well I'm NOT! Actually, I'm here to talk about a Sonic game pretty much unknown to the Sonic fandom until PACHUKA of Sonic Cult and his 1337 hacking crew discovered it. As he says below:

We're also very proud to be the first site to bring you the long lost game: Sonic Eraser. Sonic Eraser is the 2nd ever Sonic game no one knew exsisted. It was brought to my attention by our friend Sparkster. Sega put their old Sega Modem games up on their emulator service. (Japan only) So, in the late hours, with my money, Ryoga's knowledge of Japanese, and the hacking skills of Nemesis, we managed to bust open Sega's program and extract the ROM. So we proudly present: Sonic Eraser!

The game is a puzzle game similar to Tetris, each piece that falls is made up of several symbols that you have to line up to get combos... and... well, it's hard to explain, but it can be found at Sonic Cult, along with pictures and information on the game. Also some of you may have notice that the CulT has been down recently, remodeling, well it's finished! So be sure to check it all out.

    Sonic Advance 3 Revealed

    Preview at 1up.com

    Pics at 1up.com

    Sonic Advance 3 Features:

  • 2-character team gameplay
  • CUSTOMIZABLE TEAMS!
  • Giant rings (for the special stage?)
  • Keys (for the special stage?)
  • You can pick up your partner
  • 4 known playable characters (and hopefully more - the Chaotix and Rouge would be great)
  • 4 known zones - Route 99, Sunset Hill, and 2 unnamed zones
  • A zone "map" level where you can find entrances to hidden stages
  • 2-player cooperative mode where both players explore different parts of a level

Notice that the characters are not defined by formation - Tails and Cream are on the same team in 1 shot.

You don't actually play as both characters, but your choice of partner affects where you can go and what your abilities are.

Thanks to Project Blue Gale for finding this.
