Good evening friends, sorry for being a bit late on my news, but it happens. Today, we find Sega potentially committing cybersquatting, nominations for the Sonic Emmy Awards announced, and the number of PS2s available come the 26th of this month have been cut in half.

Sega Cybersquatting?: We found this URL: www.sonypsx2.com. It leads to a part of the Sega store where you can buy a Dreamcast. It’s very humorous and clever, but this could give Sony enough reason to sue Sega for cybersquatting. It’s not very possible at this point, but depending on how well the PS2 does come the domestic October 26th launch, we’ll see.

2nd Annual Sonic Emmy Awards Nominations: Rarely do I plug my own site, but because this is important to many of you, I’m going to do it this time. I released the nomination sheet for the 2nd Annual Sonic Emmy Awards yesterday. There are ten categories for the big awards ceremony this year, nine of which you can vote on now, and one which I will be choosing myself. To vote, head here, and scroll down to the link for the SEA voting.

PS2s @ Launch Cut in Half: Because of a lack of parts, Sony is now shipping 500,000 consoles to retailers for October 26th instead of the planned 1 million. This is very good news for Sega, and Peter Moore is actually in talks with several retailers wanting to fill the now empty store shelves with Dreamcasts on that day. And if demand is high, some might opt for Dreamcast instead of paying $300 at a very confined mom-and-pop store, or pay upwards of $1000 on the black market.

And that’s it for now, look for a new Audio News very soon from me.
