From VideoGamesLife.com:
Sonic Team are in for a choc-a-block year ahead, according to the team's gaming genius, Yuji Naka, in the latest issue of Dorimaga.
With speculation running out of control these last few months, the head of Sonic Team has finally let the hedgehog out of the bag promising an all new Sonic game for the E3 show, to run between the 13th and 15th of May [2003].
In addition to this, the team will also be making their presence felt on the PS2 at last, with a new game to be announced for the machine. What form this game will take, though, is a mystery, with even Naka unclear. Expressing his desire to work on another format, having worked on the GBA, GameCube and Xbox last year, Naka himself spoke of the possiblilty of the award winning Phantasy Star Online coming to PS2 (following on from the Dreamcast, PC, GameCube and Xbox versions), although didn't rule out a new development.
One thing it definately won't be, however, is a sequel to Saturn classic and hardcore favourite, NiGHTS. The team have told Nintendo Dream magazine that there are still no plans for a follow up to the game.

New update.
Sonic HQ is proud to present an exclusive interview with the creator of one of the most successful Sonic fan comics on the internet. The one and only Ian Potto.
Ken has added a few more details and clarified some things.
The first mention was reported here and a "continuation" of sorts was recently posted by Ken Penders in response to someone asking for season 3 of SatAM on his board:
No Third Season But....
... there IS a Sonic Animation Project currently in development. A story has been worked out, but beyond that I really can't talk about much at this point.
The only other thing I can say is that we intend to compete on the level of a Monsters Inc. That means whatever is developed has to be done with the general audience in mind beyond Sonic fandom in particular, so don't be surprised if the overall plot is more in line with what you'd expect from the first film of a series, rather than something you'd expect from a third season or later entry in a film series.

The Sonic Comic Convention just opened, and it features 17 fan comics, including Butterflies!
The Japanese Sonic Team website had released some new information and images for Sonic Advance 2. (Note: I used a translator for some of this, so it may not be 100% accurate)
Firstly, the rather surprising return of Zero - it seems that he now resides in the bonus stages, now using an isometric runaround style similar to the Sonic CD bonus stages. It seems you have to defeat Zero to get a Chaos Emerald.
Also, some of Cream's moves are described.
Chao Attack
Apparantly this move is similar to Sonic's homing attack, probably meaning that there is a certain amount of automatic 'lock-on' to the enemy (be honest, you've been wanting to do this for a long time :b).
Fan Flight
This move looks somewhat similar to Tails' propellor flight. It seems enemies are also damaged on your way back down.
Chao Rolling Attack
As far as I can tell, this move is simply a spin attack but with Cheese the Chao doing the same thing, therefore increasing the chance of hitting the enemy.
There also seem to be new moves for all the characters. The first seems to be a 'boost', which as far as I can tell is where your character speeds up greatly after an extended period of running. This may take up rings, and it is possible only Sonic can do this.
Other moves are 'trick actions', which seem to be a kind of vertically downwards attack, including Knuckles' Drill Claw from SA2.
Also included on the new sub-site are some downloads including wallpapers and a movie. Check it out here. If you're having trouble navigating, the first link on the nav bar is home, the second some info on Cream and Cheese, the third info on new character moves, the fourth special stage information, the fifth some as yet undisclosed 'secrets' (Hmm...) and lastly the downloads section.
