  • Download Sega GBA Games for Free in Japan

    From IGNPocket:

Starting July 27th and going all the way through to September 8th, Sega will be popping by Tokyo-based department stores to give gamers a taste of upcoming games such as Super Monkey Ball 2, Beach Spikers, and Phantasy Star Online, giving gamers photo ops with AiAi the monkey, Sonic and Shadow the Hedgehogs, and offering the opportunity to score goodies like Ai Ai and Chao clothing clips.

For those that bring their Game Boy Advances along for the ride, they'll be able to plug into the Sega Joycarry machines and dowload free versions of Puyo Pop and Chu Chu Rocket to play to their heart's content...or until their batteries run out or they hit the power switch. These games are scaled-back versions of the games that can be purchased for the GBA system, that remain resident in memory until you turn off the system.

Japanese gamers will also be able to download a Chao Mini Garden and a super special Chao creature to their GBA systems, and upload it and save it to their Sonic Advance GameCube game...you won't be able to get this Chao creature anywhere else...or so says Sega, anyway.

Though this store event is only in Japan, Sega will offer a similar opportunity to download free GBA games when Phantasy Star Online goes live for the GameCube later this year. As announced at E3, players will be able to hook up their GBA systems to their GameCube and download GBA demos, like Puyo Pop, Chu Chu Rocket and even a GBA version of Nights into Dreams off the PSO server.

    Rock Man EXE 3 Pics

A Japanese site has some new pics of Rockman EXE 3 up, including what looks like one of the new navis - apparently an electric type. Heres what the translator says:

Although details, such as a new system and a scenario, are unknown at present, existence of "a new tip", "a new enemy", a "mystery organization", etc. can peep through the picture exhibited this time at them. Wait for a future follow-up!

Support Sonic, Knuckles, and MegaMan in the GameFAQs Character Battle!

www.GameFAQs.com is hosting a popularity contest between 64 various video game characters throughout the months of July and August. Among these 64 are none other than Sonic the Hedgehog, Knuckles the Echidna, and the blue bomber, MegaMan. (Tails was in the contest as well, but he has already been laid to waste by Alucard of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.)

Although it is too late to actually enter the contest to compete for prize money, you can still help Sonic, Knuckles, or MegaMan make their way to the Championship by visiting GameFAQs on the appropriate days (listed below) and voting for them, or just vote for your favorite character each day as well.

The following passage is an excerpt from the official contest page. You can view the entire page here.

"Who is the most popular video game character of all time?

Well, we're going to find out, at least according to the visitors of GameFAQs. Beginning July 1st, there will be a 64-character winner-take-all battle royale, conducted as the Poll of the Day over the following two months. From 64 of the most popular video game characters, only one will emerge as the champion....

Split up over four divisions and seeded through scientific estimation and wild guesses, the 64 characters chosen will duke it out in a single-elimination tournament. If you've ever filled out an NCAA Basketball Tournament bracket before, the rest should be simple....

There are sixty-three rounds of the tournament, which will take place using the Poll of the Day question located on the front page of GameFAQs. The winner of each poll (all ties will be broken) will be declared the winner of that battle"

The following is a list of all the dates in which Sonic, Knuckles, and MegaMan will be taking part in the battle (assuming that they advance to every round), so spread the word! Get out and vote!

Robert Brown and Francis Tolbert’s Official Page- Discovered!

For years, the main source of the Robert Brown and Francis Tolbert's post-SatAM fanfiction series has been the "Sonic the Hedgehog Info Page", which is hosted by Alessandro Sanasi A.K.A. Tyro. Up to "Iridal's Tear", the 31st chapter written by the duo, Tyro's page has been keeping the story going. Lately, though, I found a site that had a 32nd chapter, and I quickly realized that the site belonged to no other than Robert Brown and Francis Tolbert themselves! I will not reveal anything about the chapter's plot, but I will note that the two esteemed writers have intentions now to write their chapters as often as every 6 weeks now, due to a recent graduation. The chapter, titled "The Eternal Flame", is available here at RB&FT's Official Site
