Sonic Heroes Has Shipped for the PS2 and Xbox

Sega announces the North American release of both the PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions of Sonic Heroes.

Sega of America has [on January 27th] announced the North American release of Sonic Heroes for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. The game, which was released for the GameCube on January 6, marks the first time that Sonic the Hedgehog has appeared on either console.

"We are proud to see our marquee franchise reaching the largest possible gaming audience and running at Sonic speed onto PlayStation 2 and Xbox for the first time," said Scott Steinberg, vice president of entertainment marketing at Sega of America. "We look forward to quickly establishing as strong a marketing presence on PlayStation 2 and Xbox as we have on Nintendo GameCube."

Sonic Heroes challenges players to control three characters simultaneously as they negotiate 14 stages en route to a confrontation with the evil Doctor Eggman. For more information, check out our previous coverage of the game.

    Just a heads up

Are you guys aware your Sonic Encyclopedia section is down? If so, why is it?

    Will SVT Die in 2005?

SVT.Comics, the Sonic fandom's only dedicated site for fancomics faces the possibility of a shutdown in 2005, along with The Sonic Stadium (TSS) and Sonic Anime (SA.net). Financial difficulties are being handled but are still there. With the lack of donations, it appears there's a need for concern. Shayne Thames, owner of the server in which both SVT and TSS reside on, is single-handedly paying the server costs. However, she won't be able to pay next year.

The concern is mimimal since we have an entire year to raise funds for the server. However, it is somewhat important to let everyone know that we are indeed facing a situation, and we ask that when we run donation ads through our sites that we hope for a little generous help. I personally will be offering commissions for drawing and part of the money will go to me, while the rest to the server. My commission rates are located in my DeviantArt Journal. All info will be released on their respective sites when they return (which should be another week). We hope we will be able to provide you with the best Sonic fan entertainment in 2004 and beyond! However, it might require a bit of YOUR help to do it!
