A scientist has been possessed by the Chaos Emeralds, and now she’s abducted Sonic mistaking him for her true love! Now it’s up to Amy Rose to rescue him, at all costs. A good concept, but horrid execution. Most of the story involves Amy making stupid puns and destroying robots, turning them into flowers. This story takes place in the SEGA Sonic universe. Rated PG-13 for adult language.

Amy’s Story
Amy joins Sonic and Tails on a quest for the Perfect Leaves in this SegaSonic story. Finally, a story developing Amy! She has a lot of potential, but writers rarely use her, dismissing her as a one-dimensioned stereotype. I find the Chaotix’s intolerance rather unrealistic though, and the wording is a little awkward.

Antoine D’Coolette: Private Eye
It’s Antoine on the case in this story that takes place in a gritty, film noir type universe. When a Ms. Rabbot hires D’Coolette to find a certain missing walrus, it’s an adventure to not forget for this coyote. The character chemistry is great. The style is totally film noir. Yeah. You want to read it. Do it. Now.

Attack of the Robots
Amy, the newest addition to the Knothole Freedom Fighters, is spending most of her spare time training for a fighting tournament to beheld on the Floating Island. However, ‘Buttnik has created some robotic competition of his own… A pretty good story except that the fight scene seems more like one of those choreographed movie fights than a real one, partially due to the fact that the Freedom Fighters kept making witty snide comments after every blow without tiring or losing breath. Read “Wizards” first to get an introduction on who the other fan-created character, Chaos, is. “Wizards” can be found at the bottom of this page.

Close Encounters of the Sonic Kind
The daily life of the Freedom Fighters is disrupted when a comet crashes close to Knothole. However, it’s not just an ordinary comet… Chapters One and Two of “Close Encounters of the Sonic Kind.” Pretty good, but not excellent. Reminds me of Wells’ “War of the Worlds” and Bradbury’s “Martian Chronicles,” though the author claims influence from “Sphere.” Well, it’s the same genre. You decide.

The sequel to “The New Season”. You’ll have to read that first to understand this story. “For Whom The Gavel Falls” is written from Snively’s point of view, which, along with some impressive writing, makes this story worth reading. It’s an awesome story, except for the parts with Bunnie. You’ll see what I mean. Also, Snively’s sarcasm gets a little annoying, but his views of and interactions with the Freedom Fighters are hilarious and more than make up for it. He insults everyone in Knothole, so if you really hate Snively or really like one of the other characters, don’t say I didn’t warn you. Awesome! Rated PG-13/R depending on how sensitive you are.

Ground Zero Mobius Part 1
Robotnik has taken over Mobius, now renamed ‘Planet Robotropolis’. Years after the defeat of Sonic & the Freedom Fighters were defeated, new heroes rise up to fight Robotnik’s forces. Well, despite a few things, I have no problems for grammar & such… But as for the story, I just couldn’t really get into it, myself. There are only three of the official characters in here, and they’re all the villains, and I guess I also have a problem with the fact that Sonic (the only one of the FFs named, BTW) seems to play a small part overall. Yeah I know, Robotnik probably wouldn’t have taken over if they had been alive, but still, they don’t seem to be much more than an afterthought… But anyway, these are just my opinions, don’t let me stop you from reading. 😛 -Duo

A story about two twin foxes who have to survive on their own after their home is destroyed by stealth bots. A pretty good fic; well worth the read. IMHO, some minor nitpicks involving the characters, but that’s all, and that’s probably just me. Also, I didn’t get it up in time, so my apologies to Kira. Rated G.

Two weeks after the failed Doomsday Project, a saddened hedgehog roams Mobius after the recent loss of his wife when his path crosses those of the Knothole Freedom Fighters. Upon learning his identity, the Freedom Fighters head towards Robotropolis on a dangerous mission. But this certain hedgehog is determined to take his path alone. Not a lot of action here, but still well worth reading. It leads the way for more following stories, so we have more to look forward to.

Nack’s Payback
During a badnik get-together in the SEGASonic universe, Robotnik’s baddies decide that there’s only one way they can take over all the zones; destroy all the ring monitors so that innocent Mobians won’t be able to defend themselves! However, since only Mobians can destory ring monitors, the badniks scrape up all their money to hire the baddest of the bad… Nack the weasel! A light-hearted fic in the spirit of AoSTH (except not as lame), so if you’re looking for Dan Drazen, this ain’t it. But funny nonetheless.

Once In A Blue Moon
Sandra Nightweaver has been haunted by strange dreams lately. Being a reasonable vixen, Sandra tells herself that they are not omens. But when the Freedom Fighters embark on a strange mission through the dephs of the Mobian Jungle to investigate a strange power source, Sandra discovers a new meaning to the saying, “once in a blue moon.” An excellent story, but pretty slow-paced, so you might want to multi-task through this. The ending is well worth it though. It may be helpful to read Joseph DeLaCroix’s “Starship Down” (which I unfortunately don’t have on this page) first to understand this story better, but it’s not nessecary.

Only Death Will Part Us Now
Rotor saves Mobius temporarily, an electric generator goes boom, the Freedom Fighters put on a production of “West Side Story”, and Knothole is united in mourning and triumph. This is really worth reading. Rated PG for implied sex that never happened. (You’ll see what I mean.)

Sonic 3D 2: Part 1
Eggman attacks the only human-inhabited place on Mobius, Pritchard Island, to steal the gems there in order to take over the world. The island’s guardian, Samuel Pritchard, finds the Knothole Freedom Fighters and Knuckles, seeking their help in reclaiming the stolen gems which Robotnik has hidden in various Zones.The writing is extremely choppy and the grammar and word choice can be bad, making this story unintentionally funny at times. There’s very little characterization or description; this story is an action adventure all the way. The hybrid universe is original, and the action scenes take advantage of it. Marble Rain! Wooo!
Some minor cursing and um, blood makes this story PG instead of G. Aw well.

The Ark-n/gel Chronicles. Section 1
Ark-Ngel, an escaped experiment of Packbell to create winged warriors out of semi-roboticized Mobians, escapes to Knothole, inadvertantly bringing about its destruction with the exception of Sonic, mistakenly thought dead, and herself. Now, it’s up to them to free the Freedom Fighters from prison, and start up Knothole village anew. Pretty original plotwise, but the word choice is awful. Also, some pretty big plot holes and fanfic cliches.

The New Boy In Town

(“Father, NOOOOOOO!” My mind was filled with hate, a raging yearning for vengeance, an overload of testosterone, an anger that burned at my soul like a bad fanfic in serious need of an MSTing..) However, there are a few things that stick out that detract from my enjoyment. The way Sonic & Tails act throughout, unfortunately, doesn’t FEEL like Sonic & Tails at several points. I can understand what the authors were getting at in why they’re acting as they are, but the way it’s done seems too sudden with no real build-up to it. As well, what happens to one particular character comes off as not having that much impact because that is, really, the only thing DONE with that character in the story. It’s hard to say what that is without giving spoilers, unfortunately… Plus, the the characters act towards the end at one point feels inappropriate for the events that had just taken place.
Again, though, this is NOT to say this is a bad story. I still recommend checking it out, as it’s not often these days one can find a story this long that really tries to tell a coherent, good story. 🙂 There’s just a few aspects I felt could have been a bit more polished, these aspects mostly being the characterization.

The Star of Death
In Kurt Kieser’s second piece of Sonic fiction, Freedom Fighter Lieutenant Grayson has discovered that Robotnik has plans for the Star of Rhodesia, a powerful crystal. Two days after he sets out to find the plans and crystal and has not reported back to Knothole, the F.F.s start worrying. They are too late to stop Lt. Grayson from being roboticized, but before he is, he leaves the Freedom Fighters with one last cryptic message that begins the mystery of the Star of Rhodesia and the search for a Colonel Moran. This is what we rarely see; a Sonic mystery! Very suspenseful; right when you think you’ve guessed who it is, the story takes another turn. Except for one case of stupidity on “Colonel Moron”‘s part and one continuity error (Mobians don’t use bullet weapons), this story is a must read! Rated PG for implied sex.

The Terrible Loss
Four Freedom Fighters, Neophyte, Anarchis, Cyto and Vassily set out to find Knothole. Meanwhile, Robotnik is continuing his sweep of the Great Forest for the same village. A very good story, but the “lusty Overlanders” thing failed miserably. There are better ways of writing an effective villian than making him a pervert. On another note, this is Ali’s first fanfic, and she has improved a lot since. If you enjoyed this, I’d recommend her other fics; “The New Season” and “For Whom the Gavel Pounds” in the After Robotnik Section, and “Playing Dead” in this section. The sequel to this is “After Death”, which can be found above. Rated PG-13 for adult language and sexual innuendo.

We Interrupt This Program….
When the jammin’ Knothole Halloween party is interrupted by a radio news bulletin announcing that Mobius has been invaded by Martians, all hell breaks loose in Knothole! A cute holiday special just in time for Halloween. Nobody dies, nobody finds their inner self, just a nice little story if you feel like chilling out with a warm and fuzzy fanfic. If you feel like mellowing out with a plastic pumpkin full of candy, go on right ahead and read this. Rated G.

A semi-rhyming poem bashing Sega for some reason. The rhyming is awkward and the poem itself isn’t that great… Some advice for fanfic writers and poets. If you’re going to make a point, do that in editorials, not in your fanfic. If you’re going to make a point, drive it home, instead of drilling it into people’s heads, because nobody’s going to accept it if you do.

When Sonic Met Dawn
Sonic and Tails find a new ally, Dawn, on a scouting mission. The plot seems okay, but Dawn has some trouble portraying characters correctly. Dawn isn’t very familiar with Sonic because he doesn’t get the comics where he lives. Dawn portrays the FFs as a military group like the Rebel Alliance, when actually, all they are is a family that has to fight for what it believes in, which is why this story, like his other ones, turned out pretty screwed up. And having Dawn always saying, “Force speed!” and “Force jump!” gets really annoying. But the Eggman insults near the end were pretty funny.

Wizards (Parts: 1 2)
When Sonic finds a wounded young hedgehog wizard named Chaos at the base of a cliff and brings him back to Knothole, the Freedom Fighters discover that Ixis Naugus has taken over Robotropolis. When Chaos’ wounds are healed, Sally sends him on a dangerous mission to destroy Naugus. A decent story; not half bad.

You Say Tornado
In this story set in the SEGA universe, Sonic envies Tails’ flying abilities and decides to try to fly himself by whipping up a tornado. But then something goes wrong, and it’s up to Tails to save his hero! A good story in its own right, but not much plot. Oh well, you can’t expect a Final Fantasy type storyline when you only have two main characters. It’s pretty short, so if you’re pressed for time, just read this quickly.

Zero: Part 1
Zero Prower’s first fanfic, so welcome him to the HQ! This is what is commonly known as a deathfic. It basically talks about how the Knothole Freedom Fighters, along with fan characters Spartacus the badger and Zero Prower the kitsune, investigate Sonic’s untimely demise in Robotnik’s trap. Naturally, being a first fic, there are cliches like, well, the whole death thing (though to be fair this is more of a subgenre than a cliche), and various self-insertion gimmicks (Zero being Tails’ brother who’s good at everything with a Freedom Fighter who’s in love with him)… but the writing is not bad at all. We’ll see how this goes.

Zero: Part 2
A continuation of Part 1. The plot thickens. I would like to note that we get a cameo of Bookshire Draftwood, possibly the most famous fan character of all time. Anyhow. Part 2 really develops on the stuff from Part 1. Keep it goin’! Personally, I thought that in some ways the characters wouldn’t act the way they do, and the writing could be more polished grammatically, but it’s very good as it is.
